Ronald Williams Obituary

Ronald L. Williams, 82, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Ronald was born on February 5, 1942 in Paxton, IL, the son of George "Pete" and Donnabelle (Hayes) Williams. He married Barbara Hougham on May 25, 1968.

Ron was a graduate of Saybrook-Arrowsmith High School and served in the U.S. Army. He worked at and retired from Glass Specialty Systems in Bloomington. He was a member and served on the board of Saybrook Christian Church. He also served several years on the Saybrook-Arrowsmith School Board, coached Little League Baseball, and was a member of the American Legion and Paralyzed Veterans of America. He enjoyed wheelchair bowling, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Ron and Barb made their home in Arrowsmith for 25 years before moving to Branson, MO, where they lived for 26 years before returning to Illinois. Ron was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Williams of Effingham; children, Dean (Angie) Williams of Saybrook, Dennis (Julie) Williams of Stewardson, and David (Jennifer) Williams of Saybrook; grandchildren, Amanda, Eddie and Danny Williams, Jenny and Kristin Bounds, Blake and Chase Williams, and Cory Conner; several great-grandchildren; and brothers, Joe Williams and Richard Williams both of Arrowsmith.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ron will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Barb and family, so sorry you lost Ron. He was a great guy and Arrowsmith neighbor. I know he will be missed. I'll be thinking of you in the days to come.
