April 19, 1930 - November 7, 2024
Roy Franklin Strohkirch, 94, of DeWitt, Ill. passed away 3:21 PM November 7, 2024 at his family residence, DeWitt.
Services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Ill. with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Heyworth Cemetery, Heyworth, Ill. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Roy F. Strohkirch Memorial Fund.
He was born on April 19, 1930 in Stanford, Ill. to Frank and Lelia, who Roy thought were the best parents in the world. He married the love of his life, his woman, Deloris (Johnson) Hulvey on February 4, 1963.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, William Roy; his daughter-in-law, Susie Hulvey; and four sisters, Edna, Dorothy, Elsie and Ruth.
Roy was a lifelong farmer, who was devoted to his beloved John Deere tractors. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and never met a person who he couldn't talk to. He enjoyed spending his mornings at McDonald's talking with all his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Deloris; son, Don Hulvey; daughter, Rose (Jeff) Overleese; daughter-in-law, Debbie Strohkirch; four granddaughters, Lyn (Brett) Carter, Laura (Dave) Zarecki, Anna (Jason) Torrence, and Ashley (Jason) Hodges. He had two grandsons Austin Thacker and Derek Rogers; and seven great grandchildren, Tristan and Mia Rogers, Hoyt and Leo Carter, Colton and Brooke Zarecki and Helen Torrence.
Roy was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His love and support was something to cherish. He will be missed.

My husband ( Blair Sanders) and Roy were good friends. They both were into mowers and tractors. He spent many an afternoon at my kitchen table going over parts and repairs. Sadly they are both gone now. My heart goes out to Deloris and family.

So many fond memories of my cousin Roy. We have lost a wonderful friend and family member. He and Dee was such a joy to be with. So many fun visits with them down on the farm or when they made their yearly trips to Michigan for our family reunions. RIP Roy you will be missed.
