Sandra Bossingham Obituary

Sandra Sue Bossingham

Sandra Sue Bossingham nee Willan, 85, of Riverside, IL, formerly of Bloomington, Gibson City, and Pontiac, IL passed peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

A 1957 graduate of Normal Community High School, Sandy married Roger Bossingham on June 28, 1958 in Bloomington, IL. She was the devoted mother of Greg (Kathy) Bossingham and Gwen (Michael) Jebb; dearest grandmother of Rachel (Anthony) Bellcourt, Nathan (Hannah) Jebb, Alexandra (Alexander) Hamilton, Luke (Kelsey) Jebb, Margaret (Brian) Flavin, Vanessa (Jared) Jebb Swanson, Isaiah, Sophie and Marshall Jebb; and ten great-grandchildren; dear sister of Anna Lee Marquis and the late Ray (Miriam) Willan, and a fond aunt. A stay-at-home mom for several years. She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Taught 1st grade, and then later third grade for over 20 years. With the exception of being a mom, she considered her years of teaching some of the best years of her life. She was a gifted teacher, with a gentle spirit, who adored working with children.

She also earned a Master's Degree in Education. After she retired, Sandy taught children's Sunday School for several years at College Park Christian Church in Normal, IL. Her love of teaching children combined with her love for the Bible were a hallmark of her character. She took great care in sending birthday cards to each of her students. In the fall of 2015, Sandy and Roger moved to Riverside, IL, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Sandy had an especially tender place in her heart for her grandchildren and delighted in going out of her way to make each one feel special on their birthday. She loved spending time with them, either taking them out to eat, buying them ice cream, attending their sports or music events, going to the movies, or going anywhere they might enjoy! Being a grandma was one of the greatest joys in her life. Interment Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lexington, IL.

Sandy subbed in Unit 5 for several years. I always enjoyed having her as one of our subs. She was positive and kind to all.
