Vivian Mae Odorizzi, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend passed away at 6:16 a.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at the age of 94. A woman of unwavering strength, beauty, and dedication, Vivian touched the lives of all who knew her through her hard work and love for family.

Vivian was born on October 10, 1930, in Toluca (Big Sandy on the farm), Ill. The daughter of Leno and Susie Donini Capponi. She married John Joseph Venturi on June 28, 1949, and he died August 30, 1952. She then married George Odorizzi on December 27, 1957. He died March 6, 1996.

She was the proud mother of four children, John (Mary) Venturi, of Spring Hill, Tenn., Mark (Paula) Venturi and Darlene (Brian) Trower, of Bloomington, and Tom (Sandi) Odorizzi, of Coppell, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Elsie Rossetti.

Vivian graduated from Toluca High School. She worked in the restaurant business her parents started, Capponi's in Toluca, and later with her husband George at Odorizzi's Italian Food Shop. She was a hardworking woman with a passion for her Italian heritage.

Outside of her work, Vivian found joy in simple things. She loved to knit, crochet, and sew to create beautiful handmade pieces for many. She also enjoyed puzzles and playing bocci ball and bowling with friends and family.

Vivian will be deeply missed but always remembered.

We remember Vivian with so much fondness. So kind, hardworking and pleasant, it was always a pleasure to spend time with her and I always remember what beautiful skin she had even as she aged. The world is a little dimmer with her passing. All of our sympathy.

Odorizzi family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I did not know Vivian, but seeing the obituary sure reminded me of my childhood as my Mom was a huge fan of Odorizzi's! I would give anything to have the Odorizzi ravioli. My Mom would make a huge pot of the ravioli and it was a staple in my family. Thinking about your family during this loss, and I had to share.

I remember Mrs. Odorizzi behind the counter of the little pink shop on Morrissey Dr. My family lived on McGregor, with a big open field behind us (now condos). A real treat was to get to cross the field and Morrissey and buy "penny candy" at "Odorizzi's". That is a very fond memory, and I can clearly remember her smiling face behind the counter. Never annoyed with little sweaty kids coming in and just buying a few cents worth of candy. She was a special person to make such an indelible memory that has lasted some 50-60 years! Rest in peace Mrs. Odorizzi, and thank you from a little kid who noticed your kindness!
