Fran Stanton Obituary

Fran Stanton entered into the arms of Our Lord on June 2, 2012.

Fran was born on February 11, 1927, to Newton and Evelyn Hart on the Pottawatomie Indian Reservation in Mayetta, Kansas, where she attended a one room school until her father's death. While her mother stayed on to run the ranch, Fran went to live with her aunt in Oklahoma until her senior year. She graduated from high school in Lawrence, Kansas. She was a ticket agent for TWA and transferred to Los Angeles where she met Morris McCulley; they were married in 1947. Fran worked for the Paradise Post as bookkeeper/office manager for 15 years. Morris passed away after 27 years of marriage.

In 1978, Fran and Roy Stanton were married. She supported him as he went through all the chairs of the local Elks Lodge, then state and nationally-appointed positions. She was secretary for the 24-team bowling league, and they introduced the "Fizz Breakfast". Together they enjoyed traveling and RVing.

Fran served on the Paradise Cemetery Board of Directors for 19 years. She collected antiques, painted purses, and made Christmas ornaments until she became legally blind.

Fran leaves behind her devoted husband Roy of 35 years; nieces Connie (Bill) Green of Kearney, Missouri, Susan (Matthew) Nachamichi of Seattle, Washington, and Yvonne Hart of Santa Fe, New Mexico; stepchildren Linda (Gerry) Grandstaff of Chico, Ron (Sandy) Stanton of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Michele (Karl) Boles of Richmond, Texas; 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and numerous cousins in the Midwest. Fran's hospitality, sense of humor, compassion, and unconditional love will be missed by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Paradise Elks Lodge on Friday, June 15, 2012, at 11 a.m.
