Paula Jalanivich Obituary

PAULA ADELE JALANIVICH July 14, 1927 March 27, 2018 Paula was born in Chicago, Illinois to Mabel (n‚e Joaquin) and Leonard Rioux. She came to San Diego, California with her mother to stay with relatives in 1933. She lived at various times in San Diego, Poway, Lakewood, Livermore, and then finally settled down in Butte County in 1975. Paula was preceded in death by her husband Bill (B.J.), in July 2009. She is survived by her three children: Ronald Chestnut, Pamela Chestnut, Vincent Brannen, her brother Cy (Clarence Young) Thomson, and many grand-children, nieces, nephews and their offspring. Paula was very gregarious, and enjoyed sharing her life with her friends; she was often known to be the life of the party. She enjoyed golf, bowling, entertaining, and travelling with B.J. in their conversion van; she was also known for her strong pool, poker, and Scrabble skills, and for her in-home salon services, which she provided for her friends and family throughout much of her life. In the end, it was her heart that caused her late-life health issues, from which she never recovered.

Words cannot express our sadness at the news of Paula's passing. She had been a friend and neighbor of our dad's in his final years and we knew her to be a vivacious, kind, strong, and loving woman. We treasure our own memories of her and wish her loved ones strength and the comfort of having known her light.
