Edward Don Turner
1934 - 2021
Edward Don Turner, M.D., 86, passed away with his family by his side on June 29, 2021. Don was born in Gainesville, TX, October 9, 1934 to Edward Duffy and Evelyn Turner. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janie Mitchell Turner; son Dane Turner and wife Shelly; daughter Beth and husband Rob Glenn; five grandchildren: Caitlin and Tyler Glenn; Dylan, Evelyn and Davis Turner.

Don grew up in Pasadena, TX, attended Pasadena schools, went to Baylor University (where he played baseball and lettered as a proud Baylor Bear) and Baylor College of Medicine; his internship and surgery residency were at Hermann Hospital in Houston.

He was drafted out of residency to serve in the Army at Womack Army Hospital in Fayetteville, NC 1962-1964. He returned to finish his residency and began surgical practice in Pasadena in 1966. He later transitioned into Family Practice where he retired in 1997.

Don continued his career as Medical Director of Columbia Bayshore Medical Center and served his community in various capacities: was active in coaching youth baseball; was on the sidelines of Pasadena ISD schools as Team Physician for 18 years; was President of Sam Rayburn Quarterback Club in 1982. He was named to Pasadena High School Hall of Fame as Distinguished Alumni in 1988. He served as a Delegate to the Texas Medical Association; as President of the Ninth District; and many offices and committees through the years. He was on the Vestry at St. Peter's Episcopal Church; was Medical Director for the City of Pasadena for over 20 years and served on the Board of Governors at Bay Oaks Country Club. Don ran numerous marathons but was most proud of '85 Boston where he and Janie ran and finished together.

He was a man of deep but quiet faith. He loved fishing, golf, playing the guitar, his golfing friends and his medical colleagues, and cherished his annual reunion with family each summer in Colorado. He was a loyal Astros fan and an ardent Baylor Baseball supporter.

He loved and was loved by his family dearly.
