John Marion Sandel, II, born on July 7, 1939, in Mineral Wells, Texas, died peacefully on January 19, 2012, after a long battle with COPD. He is preceded in death by his father John Marion Sandel, Sr., mother Anna Bernadine Walley Sandel, son Kerry Dwayne Sandel, wife Kathleen Callicotte Sandel, and sister Jerry Sandel Werner. John Sandel, II is survived by his loving companion Lanora Turner, daughter Marian Rene Sandel Patterson and husband William Patterson, and daughter Kim Sharlene Sandel. He is also survived by grandchildren John Marion Sandel III and wife Ashley Oakes Sandel, Sharlene Jane Anchick Petrowski and husband Michael, Christopher William Monroe Patterson, Jeremy Ryan Sandel Patterson, Jonathan Kerry Sandel Patterson, and Paola P. Gorman and husband Bryan. John Sandel II enjoyed his 9 great- grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 22, 2012 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena. A service will be held in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home, Monday, January 23, 2012 at 3:00pm. Interment will follow in Grand View Memorial Park. Johnny, Thank you for all the memories we made together. You were always thoughtful, kind, loving, understanding, and "there" for me. We had a very special friendship that I will treasure for the rest of my life. You never expected anything in return for anything you did for me except maybe a chocolate malt once in a while. I worked with John back in the early 80's. He was such a nice man and great friend. He loved his family with all his heart and was eager to tell a story about them at any time. His face would like up when he talked about his family. He was a good man and I know he will truly be missed
