Margarita Reyna Obituary

Margarita Saldaña Reyna, 87, entered eternal rest on September 16, 2025. She was born on September 5, 1938, in Lyford, Texas, to Lamar Suarez and Julio Zapata Saldaña. A proud graduate of Lyford High School, Margarita was honored as the school's very first Homecoming Queen.

Margarita married the love of her life, Jesus M. Reyna, and together they built a home rooted in faith, love, and family in South Houston. They were married for 54 years. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. A woman of deep faith, she joyfully gave her time as a church volunteer, CCD teacher, bazaar volunteer, and active member of the St. Augustine's Women's Guild. She volunteered at her children's school. She worked for many years as an election clerk.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesus; her sister, Maria de la Luz Cavazos; her brothers, Julio Saldaña, Jr., Armando Alberto Saldaña, Rodolfo Saldaña, and Jose Guadalupe Saldaña; her son, Gerardo Reyna; and her son-in-law, Paul Kuntz.

Margarita's memory will live on through her children, Ilianna Reyna Kuntz, Martha Reyna-Rebelle (Lee), and Cesar Reyna; her grandchildren, Aria Kuntz and Thomas Rebelle; and her siblings, Eustacio (Cookie) Saldaña, Tomas (Gloria) Saldaña, Lamar Diana Cruz, and Diamantina (Frank) Morales. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faith that her family will always cherish.

A vigil will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm, with a rosary service at 7:00 pm, at Forest Park East, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX 77598. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on 9/27/2025 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 5560 Laurel Creek Way, Houston, with Father Paul Foltyn officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Margarita's healthcare team at Kelsey-Seybold Clinics, especially Dr. Victor Sims, her longtime primary care provider, as well as Baylor's Dan Duncan Cancer Center and St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, for their compassionate care and support.

Margarita will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.

If friends and loved ones wish to honor Margarita, the family suggests making donations to St. Augustine Catholic Church in Margarita's memory in place of flowers.

Now that my Espanol is improving, I was hoping to have a conversation with you in Spanish the next time I was in Texas. But now that conversation will have to wait hasta que nos encontremos en el cielo, where I know you've been well received. We will miss you here, pero ya vaya con Dios!
