Catherine Tressel Obituary

June 8, 1931 - Jan. 26, 2022 Catherine Sullivan Tressel, of Azusa, California, passed away in her home on January 26, 2022, at age 90. Cathy was born June 8, 1931, in Los Angeles, California, to Mary and Arthur Sullivan and grew up in Eagle Rock, California, with her parents, brother (Patrick), and grandfather (James Guider). She attended St. Vincent's College of Nursing and graduated in 1952. She married Ronald Tressel in 1958 and, together, they raised seven children. They were married 53 years until Ronald's death in 2011. In addition to raising a family, Cathy made a career of nursing, finally retiring in 1996 at the age of 65. After retiring, Cathy helped her husband, Ronald, at his business until his retirement. While they typically traveled to Yosemite National Park, San Diego, and Solvang for most vacations, they decided to travel to Quebec to celebrate retirement and loved everything about it. Cathy even took a French course at the local community college to feel better prepared. Cathy was a lifelong learner, taking various courses to keep up her nursing license, taking a computer course to keep up with her children and grandchildren, traveling to visit family members in different states, taking trips with the local senior center, and reading voraciously. She was an active member of her parish, St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church, in Azusa, for sixty-three years and loved her parish community. Cathy was loved by her family and friends, and she enjoyed spending time with all of them. She is survived by her seven children, Dolores, Rose, Maureen, Mike, Tom, Mary, and Ron, sixteen grandchildren, and one great grandson. She was interred at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Rowland Heights. White's Funeral Home
