Damita Ziegler Obituary

ZIEGLER-Damita Jo DeBlanc Johnson Ziegler, was born August 30, 1952 to Bonnie Jean and Napoleon Johnson in Temple Texas. Damita passed suddenly on June 15, 2006. She is survived by John, her husband of 23 years, her mother Bonnie, her sisters Dena and Khadija, her brother Darrel, her uncle Ralph, and host of nieces, nephews a nd cousins who will surely miss her. Damita grew up in southern California and attended school in Compton and graduated from Centennial High School in 1970 and subsequently attended Cal State Los Angeles. In 1985, she started Working Women's Family Law Service where she would assist victims of domestic violence. She subsequently had a career in retail management as a store manager for Eddie Bauer and Bombay Company and regional loss prevention manager for Cost Plus World Market. When she was diagnosed with end stage renal disease she retired from retail and did garden and landscape design. She became active in the Pasadena Museum of History where she serve as president of the Volunteer Council and on the Executive Committee of the museum in 2001-2002 and continued to serve on the Board of Trustees Damita's interests were many and varied. She loved music and singing, she loved plants and flowers, she loved reading and travel. She loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. Despite the adversities she fa ced over the past few years she never lost her smile and she will truly be missed. Donations in her memory may be made to the Volunteer Council of the Pasadena Museum of History.
