Donald Goodrich Obituary

Feb. 15, 1956 - June 28, 2021 He had an infectious smile and a heart as big as the ocean, Donald Ernest Goodrich died June 28, 2021, of natural causes, at his home in Pasadena, California. Don was born February 15, 1956, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to R. Donald Goodrich and Eunice (Goehring) Goodrich. He was youngest of two children. After graduating from high school, he attended Ambassador College, Big Sandy, Texas and Pasadena City College, in Pasadena, California. Don worked at a high-end clothing store and then began a career in publishing that spanned almost 2 decades. He loved and wanted to work with children so he changed his career and worked at the Altadena Children's Center and became a teaching assistant for the Pasadena School district from 1995 until his death. He was a dedicated employee, the first one to arrive and the last to leave. Don loved his family and travelled to see them as often as he could. His favorite role was "Uncle Don". He loved to dance, took classes to learn new styles and was the first one on and the last one off the dance floor. His dancing partners ranged from the very young to the very old. He made sure everyone had a good time. He enjoyed traveling in and outside the United States which took him to places like Singapore, and Sri Lanka. Donald loved people, was unselfish to a fault, and a humble servant. He was always on the lookout to how he could help others and would give you the shirt off his back. He visited nursing homes, fed the homeless, took people into his home, and providing food, clothing, and rides for those who were in need. He attended church, was baptized, and ordained a deacon. He was a leader and led the young adult's group, organizing trips, service projects and dinner/dance events. Don is survived by his sister Michelle Mickelson, husband, Mark, niece Megan and nephews Derek and Brad along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and their extended families. Both parents, R. Donald and Eunice Goodrich preceded him in death. A celebration of life will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers pass on his smile, laughter and love. Please join the family in celebrating Don's life by choosing a day and time to gather alone or in groups to tell stories and remember this remarkable man that will be forever loved and missed by so many around the world.

I am sending my love and healing thoughts to all of Don's family. Donnie (as we called him growing up) was truly one of my favorite cousins. I have found memories of his entertaining my sibllings and myself when we visited in Albuquerque. He was fun and warm with a big heart. Truly one of the good guys in the world. We will miss him, and take comfort in our shared fond memories.
