Doris McAdoo Obituary

McADOO-Doris Cross McAdoo, passed away on July 23, 2005 at the age of 96. Doris was born on November 8, 1909 in Oakland, Iowa. She was raised on a wheat farm in Saskatchewan, Canada. She pursued a career in nursing in Santa Barbara, where she met her future husband William Gibbs McAdoo, who was the United States Senator from California and had served as Secretary of the Treasury under President Woodrow Wilson. Their many travels included being aboard the first Pan Am flight to China. Doris and Mr. McAdoo joined President Franklin D. Roosevelt on several campaigns. Following the death of her husband, Doris moved to South Pasadena and resumed her nursing career. She was an active member of Oneonta Congregational Church for over 50 years and was a member of P.E.O., chapter DH.She was predeceased by her husband and their son, Richard Floyd McAdoo. She is survived by grandchildren Lianne Mascuch and Scott Angene, and her great-grandchildren, Louisa a nd Moses Mascuch. She is also survived by her nieces, Mary Gluck, Ruth Crawford and Jo Ann Williams and by her nephews, Gerald, Roger and David Cross. The family is grateful to the many friends, doctors and caregivers at the P.E.O. Home who provided support, love and kindness during recent years. Doris will always be loved, never forgotten and forever in our hearts. Memorial service will be Wednesday, August 10 at 10:00 A.M. at Oneonta Congregational Church Chapel, in South Pasadena.
