Elaine Lopez Obituary
Elaine Lynn Lopez, 64, was born on August 20, 1948 in Huntington Park, CA and passed away on August 13, 2013 in Long Beach. Mrs. Lopez was a school teacher for 22 years working first in the Long Beach Unified School District for seven years and most recently for the Downey Unified School District for 15 years. A Visitation Service will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2013 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 10711 Paramount Blvd., Downey, 90241. A Funeral Service will be on held on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, with interment to follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd., Whittier. Elaine's passion in life was her children and grandchildren. She was extremely active in all of their youth activities. Elaine was a long time member of Messiah Lutheran Church and was very involved in many aspects of the church. She was a creative person who loved to do scrapbooking, knitting, sewing and crafting. Elaine is survived by her loving family: husband, David of Long Beach; daughter, Tami (Scott) Cooper of Fullerton; son, Matt (Carrie) Lopez of Long Beach; grandchildren, Cassie Lopez, Abigail Cooper and baby girl Lopez due in October 2013. She also leaves her cousin Alicelynn (Jerry) Cockrill of Escondido and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association in her memory. I remember sitting with my sisters, Pat and Karen, and Alicelynn and Elaine on the lawn of Elaine's home. We have a picture of us all, wearing full-skirted, fancy dresses, curls, and bows. What a different world we lived in more than 60 years ago. We cousins shared happy memories.

My heart is broken as are the hearts of all our family. Elaine was my wonderful cousin and we felt like sisters. I will miss and think of her every day of my life. Love to Dave, Tami and Matt, and all the family. We must go on living in her honor, and try to be as kind and loving as she was. Rest in peace, our wonderful Elaine.

Dave and Family sorry for your lost. Keeping you and your family in my prayers. Time has flew by so fast that it seem just like yesterday we were attending South Gate High School.
