Dr. Eugene A. Hessel was a brave missionary who gave and dedicated his life for the works in God's vineyard in the Philippines, as a theologian I read and studied his life writings and teachings while in Silliman University and Union Theological seminary he was so open for the political issues and worked hand in hand for the Church and its community for the welfare of everybody...A man like him joined our creator... he passed away but his life serves as the inspiration to all those who value his views and teachings not only this time but for the coming generation.

Our family, the Castillo-Benosas express our deepest condolences for the passing away of one of the most respected missionaries our world has. We, the people whose lives Dr. and Mrs Hessel have touched will forever be grateful of their love shared to Filipinos. I, Emily Benosa-Homma, daughter of Pacita Castillo-Benosa will pass on the good stories our relatives used to tell of the mission of the Hessel couple,so that their good deeds remain alive as inspiration to our generations to come.

Dearest Hessel Family:
I am the daughter of Virginia Bongog Simpson, grand-daughter of Dora Bongog. My deepest condolence and sympathy on the loss of such a great and much admired man of God. Dr. and Mrs. Hessel were both so influential and helpful to my family while they lived in the Philippines. Lola and Lolo Hessel were both such generous people and we were so blessed to have crossed paths with them. May God bless you and comfort you.
