John Bucklin Obituary
Passed away in Pasadena on August 8. He was the son of William Norris Bucklin, Jr. and Theodora Jervey Robbins Bucklin. John was born in Pasadena, CA on August 8, 1923. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, and his daughters, Sally Bucklin, Susanne Henze (Raymond) and Jane MacKinnon (Alexander), and four grandchildren, Megan, Allison and Christian Henze, and Andrew MacKinnon. John was pre-deceased by his brother, Edward R. Bucklin, and is survived by his brother William N. Bucklin III (Linda). John was a graduate of The Thacher School in Ojai(1941) and Stanford University (Class of 1945). He served with the US Army 328th Harbor Craft Co. during WWII piloting supply craft between Southampton and Cherbourg, before finishing at Stanford in 1948. John was a lifelong resident of Pasadena and had a 35-year career in the Mortgage Banking business. John was a loyal friend to many, and once he made a friend, it was for life. He greatly enjoyed his family, photography, travelling, his Labrador Retrievers, Stanford football and a Hendricks gin martini before dinner. John was part of The Greatest Generation and he will be remembered for his kindness and generosity, his wonderful sense of humor and good cheer. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to the Pasadena Humane Society, The Thacher School or Stanford University. Cabot & Sons, Pasadena Directors

I was privileged to know John for my entire life, first as a childhood friend of his oldest daughter , Sally; and later on as an adult, and fellow devotee of the Hendricks gin martini cocktail, which I many times enjoyed together with him at his residence .
Every year after my own father passed away in 1995, I called John on Father's Day, as he was a father figure to me - a loving man & family man, a man I greatly admired.
I will miss John and as a friend of the family, I grieve with them.
But not excessively , as John had a blessed life , a very long and happy life, and a big heart.
Without doubt, the angels were there on August 8th, to welcome him, and enjoy his wit , and his warm and open smile.

so sorry to hear of mr. bucklin's passing. i enjoyed our visits when we would cross paths along orange grove ave. each morning. his stories of growing up near the arroyo, as well as stanford, and his army days (the greatest generation) kept me spellbound. a real gentleman who insisted that i call him john. God bless his soul.
