I have not seen him since the 1950s, but I remember John as a really nice guy when we were students together at McKinley Junior High School in Pasadena. May he rest in peace.

RIP Mr. Tolbert...
You were my all time favorite (6th grade) teacher, at Washington Elementary School. As an adult we crossed paths through life´s unfortunate circumstances and then again, when you supported my son, at Elliot Jr. High. You were, always kind, caring and considerate. I am grateful to have had you in my life. You made a huge impression on me, it lasted a life time. You will always remain a favorite.
Remembering you fondly,
Ragnhild Nanning de Vries
