My heart goes out to all of you at this time, Bill, Willy, Austin, Julia... Frank, Maureen, Sean and Eileen... and, of course, her parents, John & Bridie McDermott... I was so impressed and touched by the eulogies that the three kids gave at the funeral... so brave of them! (Austin, you're like a professional orator!) * Nora's physical presence may be gone, but her love and many memories will always be with you... Stay strong!

I just read the sad news on Facebook from the Mission High page. What a shock! I had just seen Nora's parents in early March at Jim Sheridan's funeral. She was too young to go. My sympathy on behalf of myself and the Chambers family of Rosemead and Costa Mesa. As fellow Irish, we would see each other at weddings, dances, Irish fairs and at Mission High as Nora was in a class above me and her sister Maureen. In the mid 80's Nora saw me at a wedding and she teased me for holding out on starting a family. She said I needed to join the club. I did the next year. Again, what a shock.God rest her Celtic soul.

Noreen, as we used to call you when we were young. You would've been proud of the turn out today. My family has been very close to you and we consider you and your siblings as cousins. You were loved by many, many people. God bless you as you enter the next phase.

Nora was introduced to me by my little sister, Elaine, when they were both at Mission High School.
Having her as part of my life so many years ago was a blessing to me and to my children.
I drove her brother Sean to Boulder Colorado for his first year at University of Colorado.
Her sister Eileen was such a sweetheart as we tried to set her up with one of our young friends.
Her sister Maureen was there when my wife Vicki was very very sick at San Antonio Hospital, and I always remember her mom and dad being such very gracious and welcoming hosts.
It was very obvious that Nora learned how to love life and enjoy friends because of her Irish Catholic upbringing. Even though it has been many many years, Nora touched my life and left me with very fond memories.
My prayers are with her husband, her children, and her beautiful family.

Godspeed Nora McDermott...You always trusted in him and loved him!

Nora, I would take your nursing books while you were babysitting us. I would marvel at the gory pictures and anything "gross" I could find. You and your books led me into a long gory nursing career. You inspired many. The world was brighter because of your presence. Be at peace,Nora. All is well now.

I was blessed to know Nora for many years and then was even more blessed to have worked with her as a nurse at the San Gabriel Hospital. Nora was a wonderful nurse and friend and I still have my recipe card that reads Nora's Dream Dessert. Working with her was so much fun and she blessed my life in many ways with words of wisdom. She had a compassionate love for her patients. I am so proud of her example to all of putting family first, and she did. She beamed the last time I saw her, talking about her children, and to them and her husband she gave her energy. May you find God's peace.
