Berry,Robert Roy
"Bob"

World War II veteran, Robert "Bob" Roy Berry, passed away June 3, 2017. Mr. Berry was born on May 24, 1925 in Pasadena, California, to Helen and Roy Berry and was predeceased by his younger brother Edward "Bud" Berry. After attending Pasadena schools, Mr. Berry enlisted in the U.S. Navy Air Corps, where he served in the Pacific Theater as a flight engineer on B-24 bombers.

Although he continued to fly privately and enjoy many adventures, after the war, Mr. Berry took over the family business, Berry's Flowers in Altadena. In 1965, he moved the business to downtown LA and rebranded as Los Angeles Florist, Inc. He was a pioneer and leader in the California floral industry as a charter member of AIFD and mentor to florists from San Diego to Seattle. He was also recognized for his creative design as florist for Santa Anita Race Track and for many events and parties, from the opening of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at The Music Center to the 1984 Olympic Equestrian events.

After retirement, Mr. Berry continued his love for plants and flowers through the Los Angeles Men's Garden Club and his volunteer work at The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens.

Beyond flying and flowers, Mr. Berry treasured his family. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Stella, children Ron (Carmen), Dan (Susie), Felicia (Mark) and Kristen, grandchildren Jessica (Rick), Michael (Krystal), Kiku, Tanna (Chris), Haustin, Garrett, Emilee, Zellie and Reese and great grandchildren Rainee, Mason, Parker, Olivia and Charlotte.

There will be a private graveside service followed by a celebration of life for friends and family on June 16. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests donations to the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens for the Bob Berry Memorial Fund c/o Cris Lutz (1151 Oxford Road, San Marino, CA 91108).
