Norman Partington Obituary

PAWTUCKET - Norman "Norm" M. Partington, 77, passed away on November 25, 2018. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Estrella) Partington. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Norman E. and Eunice (Callahan) Partington.
Norm was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served aboard the U.S. Naval Destroyer - USS Turner (DDR-834) assigned to the First Naval District 1958-1964 during the Bay of Pigs Invasion and the aftermath leading to the Cuban Missile Crisis and as the U.S. involvement into the Vietnam Era escalated.

He also worked as a pipe welder and metal fabricator for over forty years beginning with Electric Boat in Groton, CT., concluding with Waste Management, Cranston, RI in 2014.
Norm's love of the ocean endured, he enjoyed fishing, clamming, boating and sailing throughout Narragansett Bay. An avid reader, something he often did while absorbing the sights and sounds all along nearby RI and MA beaches and shoreline. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, he enjoyed spending time with his entire family, especially his five grandchildren and conversing with his lifelong neighborhood friends. He was a life member with the VFW - Post 306 in Pawtucket and the Sierra Club - Chapter of Rhode Island. He maintained a love of local politics, parades and community service, volunteering for many years on the Pawtucket St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Chief Scott M. Partington and his wife, Lori, of Charlestown and Steven E. Partington and his wife, Dalia, of South Dartmouth, MA; a daughter, Kimberly A. LaPlante and her husband, Thomas, of Richmond; a sister, Eunice Rondeau of Pawtucket; five grandchildren, Zoe, Tomas, Zachary, Mason and Olin and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Louise Partington.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 8 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in the Church of St. Leo the Great, 697 Central Ave., Pawtucket.
