Gosh! Has it really been 10 years since I last saw Tony? Every so often, I think about the delicious food at The Mug. Particularly the ravioli and the house dressing on the salads. The best ever! But most of all oh, so many memories of Tony and his mother, never to be forgotten. Rest in peace my friend.

After all these years have passed since Tony has left us he is still remembered by many that remember Tony at the Mug. Ohhhh, that great Pizza!!! How Tony would come out and greet his customers, sometime bringing out a bottle of wine and sit down and drink it with us. Everyone in that area from the CHP's to the Hells Angels down the street and the thousands of customers in between. I remember well Tony's talks at the San Bernardino Historical Society telling us about his life, family, and business. A great guy that we won't forget. Steve Portias, San Bernardino. Tony, you will be missed very much. I remember going to the Mug as a kid. The Schuman family spent alot of time there and it was great fun and you were always there to greet us. I think every cop in San Bernardino had lunch and dinner there. Remembering you at Lake Arrowhead will always have a special place in my heart, plus all those great rides in the Porch. God Bless all your family and friends. Love ya.

I am Bob & Myrt Henry's daughter in Missouri (Susan) Mom & daddy have been friends with Tony and the Mug for many many years. They had Henry's Dairy in Muscoy and delivered milk to the Mug back in the day. As a little girl I remember going with mom through the back door of the Mug and smelling that wonderful Italian food. They used to take us there to eat a lot and one time we went into the Bar, I was fascinated by the huge Marlin fish on the wall and the picture of the Lady above the bar. Great Memories! Bob and Myrt will miss Tony very very much!

As I sit here ready eyed, I remember Tony and think of how absolutely wonderful he was. My parents had their first date there in 1967. I first started eating there in my mom's tummy 43 years ago and have never stopped. I remember Mama Trozera and the lollipops we got from her. After she passed Tony would give my siblings and I our lollipops. He always asked what color we wanted. He always remembered us. Then one day my sister and I went in by ourselves and he was so glad to see us. I think because he saw my generation following. I moved to Camarillo but still went there many times with my family. I will always remember fondly the first time he asked my kids what color lollipop they wanted. Tony will be missed dearly. Thank you Tony for all the wonderful memories.

I believe every kid in San Bernardino had their first piece of pizza at The Mug in the 1950's. I first met "Mom" when I was 12 and will forever remember her at the front counter. My Father,John, provided the pies that the mug served and I often came along on the deliveries. Tony and I have been friends for over 50 years...even after I moved to Santa Barbara. I always came to the Mug with family, and then brought my own children. When my daughter got married 20 years ago, Tony came up and handled all the bar setup, giving us great tips and enjoying the day! I knew I could always call Tony for expert advice, support and love. Oh, he could be opinionated all right!! but you always knew where he stood.
What Tony did not know about me was that for years I was allergic to garlic... when I told him this, he laughed and laughed and brought me a steak ..on the house!
I loved the way Tony watched over his staff, like his family. Marti was so much a part of The Mug.
I will always love you, Tony...your big smile, generous heart and wonderful life was an inspiration to all of us. You lived life to its fullest and you shared yourself with so many friends, as well as the community. We will miss you so much.
My heart is with all his family, his friends and the community.

My entire family is saddened to see that Tony has died. We have been going into The Mug since the early 80s when I was old enough to eat spaghetti, and every time we went into his restaurant we expected good food and a good conversation with Tony about anything he wanted to talk about. He was a great guy, and I only wish I knew him more outside of The Mug. What a loss for the city. Tony you were a treasure and I know I will miss seeing you.

Tony, Tony, Tony, my gosh what can I say in just a few sentences, I could write a book. My relationship with Tony started in 1962 when our Optimist Club at Eisenhower High School was in need a place to meet - Tony was there, and for the next three years we met once a week for Tony's Pizza (still the best in the world), and Root Beer. That was the start of a friendship that lasted until last week with Tony's passing. I left the San Bernardino area in 1996 for a position in Savannah, Georgia. For 10 years my wife Josie and I made quarterly sojourns back to Rialto and our first stop was always the Mug. I will never forget Tony's hugs and kisses and his admonishment for moving to the "wrong" coast as he would refer to it.
As the years passed we made fewer and fewer trips to So Cal, health and age have caught up with me but I will never forget the last time I had the privledge to talk with Tony. I had been hospitalized for some forgotton reason and the first call I received upon my return home was from Tony - who would have thought this lovely, wonderful man would take the time out of his busy schedule to pick up the phone and call - yes, it brings tears to my eyes as I sit here and remember all the little gestures that I will never forget. As we travel trough life we are really lucky to have a few special individuals that we cherish as "true" friends - that was Tony, a true friend to everyone he met. Rest in peace my friend, I will never forget you.
With Loving Respect

Wow, what memories our whole family has of "The Mug" and the Trozera family! It has always been our "home away from home" and Mama Trozera, Marty & especially Tony always made it "feel" that way! My husbands family started going there when it opened and I started going there as an infant in the 50's as well. We were there last in Sept. 2011 and bought over $400.00 worth of pizza's, spaghetti & salad dressing for one of our sons' Welcome Home party (from Afghanistan) in November and we found many family members "more than willing" to help us out with use of their "freezers" at their homes!!!! We have lived in Las Vegas since the late 80's but whenever we went home to So. Cal. we never ever did not stop at "The Mug" - first thing. Tony even graciously treated our son to a "Dinner on the House" when he came home from Iraq and we also sent him frozen pizza over there (during winter) and he ate it anyway, fungus and all! We always had family functions at The Mug - Always! We will miss your welcoming smile and big heart and as long as "The Mug" stays open we'll be stopping by at least twice a year! Until we meet again old friend - you'll be horribly missed! May God bless you and your great family.............So Very Sorry, The Maddi Family

I would like to offer prayers and condolences to the family of Tony Trozera. What a loss our world will experience with his passing. He was a fine gentleman.

I remember first coming to The Mug as a child in the early 1960's. Tony and his mother were there always. She would talk to the children and give us suckers. I always looked for her and Tony. As time went on, and as an adult my husband, Bruce and I always looked for Tony when going there for dinner. He always greeted us and would at times come and sit with us. The last time we went to The Mug, at Christmas time, we had dinner, but didn't see Tony. We went into the bar, looking for him and there he was - watching sports on the T.V. We talked briefly, and said good-bye. But not before a handshake and an arm around the shoulder like he frequently did. We are so grateful to have had that time with him. Tony will be greatly missed by my husband and I, and countless others.

I am happy to think about the fact that he is probably seeing his beloved mother again, after such a long time, today in heaven. May God rest his soul...

I have so many memories of eating at The Mug when I was little. I remember Tony's Mom at the cash register. I always loved looking at Tony's racing pictures. The last time I was there it was on Mother's Day and as usual, Tony was there...and as usual, the food and the service was fabulous. Our deepest sympathy, The Griffith Family

We grow up going to the mug. When are parents said we were going, we all would run to the car. As we got older we started taking our own kids to your place, and you would always come to table and always have a friendly smile and nice thing to say. As our parents passed, we came in once a month for your monthly get together, and you would smile and say your table is ready even when we did not call head.. We always felt at home, cause you made us feel that way... You will be very missed by our family... Our Love and Prayers go out to your family..

Three generations of my family have spent many-an-evening there with The Mug's great pizza and pasta dishes. My wife & I's first date was at the Mug. Tony's place was just the place to go when you had to get your fix. And, of course, Tony would meander around to chat or just say hi. When he called out "Holywater", I knew he was talking to us! Tony will surely be missed though his legacy lives on.

I ate at the Mug with my parents in the 1950's when Tony's Mom sat at the front desk. Later in 1969 while working for Laura Scudders I sold Potato Chips and Nuts to Tony for the Mug, the little counter clip rack I gave Tony in 1969 still sits on the counter. John Weeks, Wanda Wells, Nick Cataldo, and myself had lunch a couple of times with Tony in the past month or two. Tony was one of a kind and a inspiration to many and will be long remembered.

Hard working and Fun, always there for the kids in sports.
He made everybody feel "Right at Home" at The Mug., the younger kids got a plate of spaghetti to help settle them down.
Tony's "The Mug"., was place where Real Racers gathered and shared ideas.
