Christian Adams
Two vintage German wine tastings lured Christian Adams, 37, of Biebelsheim, Germany, to the United States this September, his first trip to the United States in five years.

The deputy director of a trade group that promotes German wine exports, Adams was on his way from the first tasting, which ended Sept. 10 in New York, to the second, scheduled for Sept. 13 in San Francisco, when he died in the hijacking of United Airlines Flight 93.

Every year, someone from Adams' group comes to the states for the two tastings, said Carol Sullivan, executive director of the German Wine Information Bureau, the New York-based American branch of the German Wine Institute.

But she said it was rare for Adams to come to the United States himself--the wine-making season in Germany coincides with the typically late-September tasting dates, Sullivan said.

"His wife's family and Christian have their own small winery, which made it difficult for him to come. But because of the Jewish holidays, we were holding the event earlier in the month this year," Sullivan said.

A native of Germany, Adams had a degree in oenology (the science of wine) and viticulture (the cultivation of grapes) from the Geisenheim Research Institute, a wine-making school in the Rheinland, in western Germany, Sullivan said. Adams had been head of the German Wine Institute's export efforts for 12 years and also had a marketing degree from the University of California at Davis.

"For all of us that are involved in this work, it's more of a family than a job. And Christian was the hub. He was the center of this," Sullivan said. "I will always remember his thoughtful counsel and dedication and hard work and easy-going manner and wonderful sense of humor, that just made working with him an absolute pleasure."

Adams and his wife had two children, Lucas, 7, and Theresa, 5.

Christian, you'd be in your 50s now. Would you still be traveling or would you now enjoy life by staying home with family and doing the things you enjoy most. I didn't know you but I still feel bad after all these years for you and the others. I pray God has you with him and you're walking in the fields of heaven. Bless you and may you be at peace.

To the Family of this amazing Hero, stay strong, remember him fondly, talk about him daily, don't ever forget his self- sacrifice. We, in the United States of America, embracing his memory, as all of the other angels, who had given their lives on this tragic day of September 2001.

"He had smiled
so that he would not cry.
He had smiled hoping to greet another sunny day....
Then the angels came
and took him into Heaven.
Since he had died
you will greet each sunny day
with a smile on your face,
because each day will bring you closer to meeting him again,
to embrace him and to share
eternity together."

Stay strong, I have. My son was one of the pilots on this flight.
We will never forget!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

We were looking through the 9/11 Remembrance Memorial and saw three families with the same last name as ours. We have four sons, Michael, David, Johnpaul and Christopher. Our David recently enlisted into the United States Marines. One of his reasons for enlisting was the events of September 11, 2001. We want you to know that we will remember Christian and your family in our prayers. God Bless You all and God Bless the United States of America. Semper Fi!

Written by my 13 yr old daughter for Language arts class, she wanted the families to read what she thought of those brave souls who risked all to save us.....

What is a hero?
A hero is hard to put into one word. You ask me to describe what a hero is.The only way I know to do this is to give you an example. There were many heroes on September 11th , 2001, but the ones that stand out the most are the people on Flight 93.
I say this because the people of Flight United 93 gave the U.S.A. a little bit of hope during our darkest hour. They unselfishly gave their lives to stop a bigger tragedy fron unfolding. They put their selves before others. They are very courageous, risk taking, determined, and powerful people. They all banded together to fight one evil. Without these hereos there would have been a bigger tragedy. That would have been my definition of a hero.

This was written and dedicated to all the families of United Flight 93 left behind to help us remember ,written by a 13 yr old , 8th grade student at Heritage Middle, know we will never forget and they will live on as hereos forever.

Christian...In this struggle thousands more have joined you...heros in a fight we must win, on behalf of the entire civilized world. The price is already so high, yet the struggle continues...It must. May God give your Family & loved ones, the serenity, comfort & tranquility to endure your sudden departure, while you reside in His everlasting embrace, know that WE will not break the covenent that has been forged between those of you that have passed on, and those of us left to face this evil that endures to this day...

To the family of Christian Adams...Parents,Grandparents, siblings, wife , children, may God has given you comfort in your time of sorrow, hurt and confusion. Remember always that he was an innocent by-stander, became a heroe and sacrificed his life to save others. He truly fought a fight of self-sacrifice.I don't know if you ever came to the site of the crash. It is a beautiful peaceful, tranquil place....Sacred ground. The temporary Memorial is cared for by volunteers from the area, who love to devote seven days per week of their time, to care for these 40 Heroes. They have build benches in the victims names, made wooden angels for each of them, and they are there to give out information and safe- keep all these many gifts, people are bringing as they visit to honor Flight 93.Weekly about 2000-4000 people come to visit from around the world. All of the gifts are catalogued and stored in an underground vault until the permanent National Memorial is completed, with a Museeum to display each item, which has been brought there, by people of love, compassion and kindness. Many blessings to each of you.I am the Mother of the Co-Pilot LeRoy W.Homer,Jr.I understand your sorrow.
Our scars will never heal, but we have to go on..One way or another.

I am so sorry for your pain. Please know that Christian will be remembered by people who never even got the chance to meet him on this earth. Germany seems so far away, but we are really all close in that we love and hurt the same - no matter what the distance. I lost my mother many years ago when I was only a baby, and my comfort lies in my faith that we will be together again with the Lord one day and I will get the chance to know her. I look forward to meeting your Christian then also. All those aboard Flight 93 hold a dear place in my heart. My prayers are with you. Love, Marsha
