HELEN BERNICE SOMPAYRAC (FAIR)
Helen passed away at the age of 80 on January 19, 2018, in Riverside, California, with her family and friends by her side. Helen dedicated her life not only to her family, but to the thousands of students she taught in RUSD. Helen was born in Bloomington, California, on July 23, 1937. She was a 1955 graduate of Trona High School and received her Bachelor of Arts and Teaching Credential from San Diego State University.
Mrs. Sompayrac inspired her students to go further than they thought possible. Helen made sure to provide enrichment activities such as plays, productions, cooking lessons and sewing activities for her students. She always went the extra mile for her students.
Her dedication to her family was seen through her commitment to her children and grandchildren's success in school, life and all activities. Grammy/Mimi was a fixture in the stands at sporting events, where she could be heard cheering loudly.
Guiding her through the gates to Heaven was her husband, Richard Sompayrac, where she was reunited with her beloved son, Michael Sompayrac. She was also preceded in death by her parents, James C. and Verde Mae Fair; her brother, Marvin, and sister, Judy. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Nichols (Larry) and daughter-in-law Susan Sompayrac; grandchildren, Annie and Tim Sompayrac, Kristina, Breeanna, Maddie Mae, and Nicholas Knust and Carly Nichols, her brother Edward Fair (Viola) and sisters Lilian Todd and Dorothy Comber along with numerous nieces, nephews, great, and great great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will take place at Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, 7911 Magnolia Avenue in Riverside, CA 92504 on Sunday, January 28th, viewing at 1 PM, service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.
