Polly Sue Breitkreuz

1943 - 2021

2/06/1943 - 8/10/2021 Polly, passed away on August 10, 2021 due to complications of a massive stroke. She will be missed by family and friends, but will be remembered and loved forever. She is survived by Tom Breitkreuz her beloved husband of 45 years, her daughter, Sally Hammond, her son, Dennis Grissom Jr., Thomas Hammond III (Sally's husband); and her most precious grandchildren, Thomas Hammond IV, Andrew Hammond and Riley Grissom. Polly resided in Redlands for 60 years. She lived in a beautiful historic home, built in 1889 for a number of decades, which she treasured and decorated with antiques that were passed down for generations in her family. Polly was a successful administrator at the University of Riverside for over 20 years. She prided herself on the fact that she had started as a clerk and proceeded to raise up to a level of senior administration based on hard work and her stubbornness to never give up when challenged. She liked to travel and was able to fulfill her bucket list of traveling to places she always dreamt about, The Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu, the Galapagos Islands and Chaco Canyon. She experienced the once in a lifetime full solar eclipse that she had always hoped to see. She enjoyed Sudoku, reading, jigsaw puzzles and the Sunday Times crossword puzzle. She thoroughly enjoyed the undertaking of the preparation of a traditional Christmas dinner for the entire family, with the china, silverware, and crystal glassware that are not frequently used these days, this formality has lost its place in traditions, that make memories for a lifetime. Of all the things she treasured most and was foremost in her life was the love of her family. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
