Robert Burnham Obituary

ROBERT BERRY BURNHAM 8/8/19 - 4/14/12 Robert, was born in Lawrence, Mass. on 8/8/19. Bob grew up at Point of Pines, Revere, Mass. Bob liked to see his Red Sox play at Fenway Park, and also often took his mother dancing at clubs in Boston whenever their favorite "Big Bands" appeared. Bob was in the Army - Air Corps. from 1942 through 1946, and flew on military transport missions in the pacific as a radio operator. After private flying lessons in Reno, Bob was able to solo in a small plane. From 1950 to 1952 he served in the Air Force Reserves stationed with his family in El Paso, Texas. Bob's civilian career was still with the Air Force in their accounting and finance division. When he retired in 1970 from his last work site at Andres AFB, Suitland, Maryland, Bob and his first wife, Ethel, moved to So. Calif. to be near their only child, daughter Cyndi, of Gavilan Springs, CA. He and Ethel later became Seventh Day Adventists in California where they enjoyed the California climate until Ethel died in 2000 after 58 years of marriage. Bob later remarried to Dorothy Moore, and in 2003 they moved to Seattle to be near Dorothy's family. Dorothy died in 2009, so Bob returned to So. Calif. to live with his daughter Cyndi, who survives him. He is also survived by his 4 nieces and his first cousin, Eugene C. Burnham and his family of Ferris, TX. In later years Bob got hooked on bluegrass and country music, especially George Strait, Ricky Skaggs and Brooks and Dunn. One of Bob's favorite songs was Brooks and Dunn's "You'd Better Kiss Me, Cuz You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone!" All of your surviving friends and family really do miss you Bobby! We will always feel the loss of your big smile and infectious sense of humor. Many thanks go to Copusan Board and Care Home staff and Qual-Care Hospice for their kindness, and skilled, loving care until Bob died on 4/12/12 at age 92. Also many thanks to Dad's friends in his church family at Arden Hills SDA Church. Bob did not wish any services and his inurnment will be private at a later time.

I remember Uncle Bob fondly. When I was little, Uncle Bob, Aunt Ethel and Cousin Cyndi lived next door to us. I loved the smell of the cigars he smoked, and we often sat with him in the summertime on his porch watching the Red Sox.

I also really liked the Cuckoo Clock in their dining room. I think I used to believe it was a live bird.

I also remember all the fun times at Grandpa Hazletts Camp in Barrington, NH, with all the family.

I was quite sad when Uncle Bob and family moved away for work.

The youngest niece, Elaine
