Ms. Clark, Even though it's been years I will always remember you. For the family, Ms. Clark was one of my mom's best friends. I had the pleasure of knowing her through my mom, and she lived in the same neighborhood as my father in Thunder Hill. When I moved back to the area from Cali, Ms. Clark was having a yard sale and had some beautiful African-printed plates. Even for a yard sale, the price she gave me for them and other kitchen items was a great deal. Just 5 cents! I loved those plates and kept them for quite a long time. On August 3rd, 2001, my daughter was born. I remember my mom visiting at the hospital. She stayed with me the entire time, except to have lunch with Ms. Clark. Ms. Clark met my mom at the hospital, and that was the last time we saw her (my mom remembers better because they gave me some great pain meds after delivering my daughter). My mother mentioned they weren't on the best of terms at that time, so it's good to know they were able to mend things. She was a really "cool" lady, and I liked her personality a lot. My mother will still share nice stories about their friendship and conversations they had. Ms. Clark will truly be missed, and it was an honor to know such a wonderful person. I will always remember her, and know that her spirit lives on. Whenever I look at my daughter, it reminds me of Ms. Clark. Mainly because of the visit to the hospital to meet with my mom is a reminder of my daughter's birth. She is 13 yrs. old now. Wow! You will always be a part of our family, Ms. Clark. Sincerely, Vikki

I would have loved exploring the Channel Islands with you, watching the wonder and excitement on our students' faces. Pres. Bush implored the nation to carry on and "not let the terrorists win" so the trip was postponed to the end of the year; but our hearts were all heavy and there were many silent moments and prayers for you and your family, and for those who perished with you that aweful day. I so wish my students and I could have had the chance to know you and your student Asia. You dedicated your life to serving children and you will never be forgotten.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not're coming here to me.

Sara Clark was the most passionate and dedicated educator I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She motivated to me to always strive to be better even when I thought I was the best. She served as a model for all teachers. She was loved by so many, including myself. She spent her finally moments with her student doing what she loved... enriching their lives. I miss her. She was the only teacher I ever visited after passing their class (She was my 6th grade teacher at Keene Elementary School). She made the Keene experience the ultimate learning experience for every student that had the great fortune of being in her class. Her great spirit energy and level of commitment was a gift she later brought to Backus Middle School. It was always a pleasure for me to stop by to visit with her after 3pm at Backus and see her assisting students that needed a little extra help or just to talk to someone they knew cared. I still often stop by Backus to pay my favorite teacher a the memorial built in her honor. For your students you made the ultimate sacrifice. I love you Sara Clark. Thanks for everything.

To The Family of Sara,
Every year people come together to remember September 11th. I remember it every day. Through this tragedy Sara has taught me something, not to take our children for granted. She chose to share her gift with the children of Washington and for that I am truly thankful. There are many of us who feel the same way. Those children are very special because they now have her gift. Thank You Sara, you are always on my mind and forever in my heart!

To My Angel Sara,
Time has not eased the pain, I feel the same way I did when I first wrote you. My heart and soul are incomplete. When I blow out the candles on my birthday cake each year, I wish September 11th never happened. We all must live with the fact that God's will be done. We don't understand why at this time and it is too difficult to figure out. But in due, time God will give me the answer. Until that time I thank you Sara for sharing so much with those who knew you. Love Always, Bernadette.

I remember Ms. Clark from my days as a student at Backus Middle School. Though I did not take a class from her, I remember her as a kind, loving person who cared deeply about her students and everyone around her. When I found out that she was on the plane that crashed into the Pentagon, my heart sank. Backus and DC Public Schools lost a GREAT, DYNAMIC, HARDWORKING teacher that day, and I can speak for the hundreds of students who knew her and had the opportunity to be in her class when I say she will forever be misses. However, we must not dwell on mourning her death; we must remember how she lived. My condolences to her family, the Backus community, which holds a special place in my heart, and to all the victims of this horrific tragedy. May God continue to provide a sense of comfort and peace in your lives.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
