STEVEN DOUGLAS SHERIDAN
Age 74, passed away peacefully with family and friends at his side in the Veterans Hospital in Loma Linda, CA on May 30, 2018. Steven was born in Crosby, ND to Bernard and Avis Sheridan. Steven spent nearly all his life in the Riverside area, and lived in the family home till his death.
Steven was a Vietnam Veteran, having proudly served his country from 1967 to 1969. His life-long occupation as a truck driver consisted of traveling the state of California, hauling materials for large construction projects. Steve loved his job and everyone he interacted with remarked of his dedication, kindness and thoughtfulness towards others.
Steve's passion was racing. He was a member of a racing team which involved participating and attending races from stock cars to dragsters. Steve loved to find and rebuild old cars. He recently refurbished a 1955 Chevy Bel Air and a 1936 Ford pickup. Throughout his lifetime Steve attended many car shows in California and Nevada. Along with cars and racing, Steve had a soft spot for animals, especially cats. Steve will be missed by his close friends Billy Moore, Mark Ogawa, Linda Hylton and many others.
Survivors include three sisters, nieces, nephews and extended family: Sister-Patty Evans (Wayne) of Eugene, OR; Clinton, Chanda, Shannon and Maxwell of Portland, OR. Sister-Carol Smart (Mickey) of Corning, IA; Eric, Nikki and Azelia of Creston, IA; Kylee, Seth and Augustus Castillo of New Market, IA. Sister-Valerie Shoop (George-deceased); Shelley Tisnado (Matt) John Henry, Christopher, Amanda Bower and son of Glendale, AZ; Brittany Simmods (Dylan) and two children in Virginia; Jeff Shoop (Jeannita) Cody, Cadence and Annika of Witmann, AZ. Two brothers, Tony and Phil, preceded Steve in death. Tony's children are Jennifer of Mt. Clair, CA and Heather and Christopher of Columbus, OH. Phil's daughter Marie and family live in Washington State. Extended family includes cousins Lewi and Ward Sheridan of Riverside, CA.
Interment will be at the Riverside National Cemetery on Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA on June 29, 2018 at 11:30 am. A celebration of Steve's life will be held at 3 pm at the D&D Airport Café, 6951 Flight Road, Riverside, CA.
