I don´t know if I had seen this obituary before but my condolences to you and family. My sister bought us POW/MIA bracelets and wore them all the time. I was lucky enough to see him come home and get off the plane. I still have the article he wrote in the TV Guide. I´ve looked him up over the years. I too would like to return the bracelet if you are interested. Thanks to Robert and your family for your service and support that was given. Peace.

I didn´t know this fine gentleman however I have thought of him over the years. I have a MIA/POW bracelet from the late 60´s that I have had since I was a child that has his name and rank LCDR from when he was shot down on 5/18/67. Thank you sir for your service and to your family also. I didn´t know until today that he made it home and it makes me happy to know he did. I´m sorry for your loss. I think my email address will be available through here and if it is and a family member would like this bracelet I would be honored to mail it to you.

Hi I was going through things and found my POW bracket of Roberts. I wore it all through high school and never took it off until he walked off the plane. I would love to send it to his family. Just message me and I will. Thank you and God Bless you all.

I met Bob through my Husband Bill Ellis when we picked up Stingers for the funeral of Jimmy Graham when his remains were released from Vietnam years after the war ended. I actually have Bob´s POW bracket that Bill wore for years until Bob was released. Remember a beautiful kind man and would just sit at reunions and listen to and see the love between the Stingers and memories they all shared. Grateful to be able to share in that memory. Thank you all for your service.

Peggy-
I wish I had posted this 2 years ago - time got away from me.
Nort was my best skipper of all time - twice - once in VA-83 and then again in VA-174. I loved my time in both squadrons and it was a distinct honor to serve with your husband. His unfailing willingness to share his experiences in Hanoi and constantly loaning me books to read about the POW experience meant so much. He was the consummate elegant gentleman with such a wonderfully rye sense of humor - he always made us laugh with his stories about his initial investment in soy beans upon return to the states (unfortunately way ahead of his time) . I will never forget the impact he had on me in my formative years as a junior officer. When I left the Navy after 10 years of active duty, I always felt I had let him down in some ways. Made up for it (in my mind) serving and retiring from the Naval Reserves. You and Nort created the best possible environment in our squadron, and for that, I will be forever grateful.

I wore a POW bracelet embossed with Capt Naughton’s name for years. I didn’t know he was released from captivity but when I saw his obituary in the Cedar Rapids (IA) Gazette I knew immediately it was the same man. What a wonderful life and career he had.
My sympathies to his family. His service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

I was 10 years old and a student at Immaculate Conception school when Bob came home from Vietnam. There was a parade of sorts and it went up 3rd Ave in front of the church, all of us students and faculty and many others lined the Avenue with signs and banners to welcome Bob home. It was a proud day for the community. Bob's mom was the head lunch lady at the school and she was loved by everyone.

My dear entire Naughton family. I send you my prayers, love and sympathy. I did not personally know Bob, but I wore his POW bracelet for the whole tie he was a POW. He sounds like he was a wonderful man and soldier. I thank him for his service.

I had the incredible pleasure to meet the Naughtons at the bridge table at the national tournament a few years ago. Even at that brief encounter, the shining light of their character shown through. Little did I realize until now that I grew up on Camburn Court SE in Cedar Rapids Iowa only about 5 blocks away from the family's homestead. We spoke for a few moments about Iowa, Iowa State University, and Senator McCain. I saluted him as I left the table and I salute him now for being the finest of America, the finest of men, and the ideal to which we all aspire.
