Joye Smiling-Young Obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Joye Yvonne Smiling- Young, 46, of Florence, who transitioned on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this time of loss and remembrance.
God whispered in your mother's ear, "Joye shall be her name." He knew the joy she would spread as she traveled life's highway-unstoppable in achieving her goals. She took the enemy's stumbling blocks and turned them into stepping stones. Never one to spend time grumbling or complaining, she would get up, face the challenge, and win.
A Time to Be Born
Joye Yvonne Smiling, the first-born daughter of Mr. Gedine Smiling Jr. and Mrs. Brenda Smiling Howard, was born on January 9, 1979, in Florence, South Carolina.
A Time to Grow
Jove was educated in the public schools of Florence, beginning at Greenwood Elementary School and graduating from Wilson High School in 1997. Shortly after, she pursued cosmetology at Chris Logan and Betty Stevens Cosmetology School in Florence, SC. Driven by a deep passion for helping others, Joye transitioned into healthcare. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Phlebotomist, and EKG Technician. Her commitment and perseverance led her to earn her Associate's Degree in Nursing on August 6, 2025. No matter the challenge, Joye demonstrated that perseverance and faith could turn pain into progress, and setbacks into success.
A Time to Love
On December 20, 2012, Joye Yvonne Smiling was united in holy matrimony with Mr. Patrick Young. Their union was one of love, strength, and enduring support.
A Time to Worship
Joye was a devoted and active member of Miracle Deliverance Fellowship Church, where she was baptized in Jesus' Name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gave utterance.
She was endowed with the "Gift of Helps" and faithfully served in many ministries, including Vacation Bible School, the Usher Board, the choir, and the kitchen ministry. Whatever her hands found to do for the Lord, she did it with joy. love, and excellence.
Dear Lord,
Whatever it is I desire, may I desire You more. Whatever I seek, may I seek You more. Whatever I love, may I love You more. May You be more to me than anything in this world. Amen.
