Avis C. Elms
Morton - Avis Columbine Elms, 97, of Marquette Heights, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Aperion Care-Morton Villa in Morton. Born January 13, 1924 in Clovis, California to Leonard and Alice (White) Fulks, she married Thomas M. Elms on June 7, 1945 in Arkansas. He died March 20, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Faye Delancey; one brother, Weldon T. Fulks and her significant other of many years, Russell Light.
Surviving are her son, Thomas (Linda) Elms of Texas; two daughters, Sherry (Leslie) Fulton of Pekin and Debra (Gary) Ball of North Pekin; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Avis was a stay at home mother and a homemaker. In her free time she enjoyed reading and dancing. She was skilled at drawing. Avis loved spending time with her family and making memories with them. Her visitation will be held Wednesday May 5, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes in Pekin. Her Private funeral service will be at the funeral home on Thursday May 6, 2021. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, Midwest Affiliate, 530 Northeast Glen Oak Avenue, Peoria, Illinois 61637.
