Lorna Bunch Obituary

Longtime Soldotna resident, Lorna Jean Bunch passed away peacefully at age 76 on November 28, 2020.
She was born in Durango, CO in 1944 and the daughter of Edward and Betty Clovis.
She married her best friend Bill Bunch in 1992, who preceded her in death in 2012.
Lorna graduated from High school in Durango, Colorado. She moved to Alaska in 1972 with her former spouse and their three daughters.
Lorna worked as a hair dresser and later went on to teach Cosmotology school here. We are still often stopped by her students and told how special and encouraging she was in their lives. Lorna's home was always full of energy, family and something good cooking on the stove. Lorna was a giver and made time to help everyone. She enjoyed going to the grandkids sporting and school events, and was the first one to have her home and their yard moose decorated for all the holidays.
If Lorna and Bill weren't smoking and canning salmon, they were processing moose or packing up for an ice fishing or camping trip. Grandma Lorna's was where you stopped if you were hungry, needed to throw the kids in the tub, process your fish, or take a nap.
She also had great advice on life. Her encouragement was to do the right thing, and then let us figure out for ourselves what that was. Her whole yard was beautiful with flowers, special gifts, and all the kids handprints in the cement walkways. Lorna was someone you were proud to call your mom, grandma, aunt and friend. We will all greatly miss those back porch, sunroom visits.
She is survived by her three daughters, Kahlene (Chuck) Smith, Shannon Peterkin, Heather (Jeff Tubbs) Craig, four Step children, Tina Bunch who preceded her in death, Frankie (Brandie) Bunch, William (Kelsey) Bunch, and Sherri Bunch. Lorna was blessed with 25 grandkids, 11 great grand kids, and many nieces and nephews.
Lorna has four siblings , Bud (Deloris) Clovis, Sharon (Mike) Day, she was preceded in death by her twin brother Larry (Eve) Clovis, and also Preceded in death by Monty (Ann) Clovis.
The family would like to give a special thank you to granddaugter Haley Bunch for helping care for Lorna over the past year.
A celebration of her life will be held in the summer of 2021.
