Racheal Hoadley Wilhelm
1938 - 2021
On Saturday August 21st, 2021, Racheal Hoadley Wilhelm, loving mother, and grandmother, passed away at the age of 83 at her home in Soldotna, Alaska after a long battle with dementia and pulmonary fibrosis.
Racheal was born on May 25th, 1938 in Caldwell, Idaho to Seth & Carrie Hoadley. She graduated from Beauty School before heading out on the adventure with her sister Erlene to visit the Last Frontier in 1963 and never left. She was married to Chet Wilhelm in 1964. Racheal worked at First National Bank as a bank teller and then for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District as a clerk until her only child, Carrie, was born in 1974. She also worked for the Soldotna Inn for a few years in the early 1990's as a housekeeper.
Racheal loved flowers, birds, and butterflies. She kept a beautiful flower garden and yard, crocheted, and loved to read. She and her husband Chet loved snow machining in the Caribou Hills and spending time at their cabin. She was known for her sharp tongue and soft heart for little ones. She adored her grandchildren and enjoyed many years of watching them grow into amazing adults. She was so happy to meet her great-granddaughter, Reighlynn.
Racheal is preceded in death by her husband Chet Wilhelm. Her father, Seth and mother, Carrie. Her Sisters Lamoyne Wade, Sylvinia Gibbens, Clara Babcock, Pauline Hoshaw, & Karon Newhouse. Her bothers Calvin Hoadley, Clayton Hoadley, & Glenn Hoadley.
Racheal is survived by her daughter Carrie and son in-law David Henson, granddaughter Mariah Henson, grandson Chet and his wife Katlyn Henson and her great granddaughter Reighlynn Henson. Her sisters Shirley Oehler & Erlene Tachick and their husbands. Her nieces and nephews Lorraine Hibpshman, Kim Oehler, Seth Oehler and their families all in Alaska. Her foreign exchange student son Kristian Lauridsen, his wife Mia, and their three children of Farum, Denmark. Her niece and nephew John Tachick and Wendy Winans and their families in Arizona. Her niece Kelly Wade of Sunnyvale, California. And extended family and relations in Idaho and Ontario, Canada.
There will be a Celebration of Life Open House in her home between 1 & 3pm on September 4th, 2021. Starting at 3pm there will be a procession from her home to the City of Soldotna Memorial Park for her interment.
