Longtime Alaskan and Soldotna resident, Mrs. Rebecca Jo Hanson, 53, died unexpectedly in her sleep Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at her home in Soldotna.
She will be laid to rest 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7th, 2021, at the Kenai City Cemetery in Kenai. A celebration of her life will be held 4:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9th, 2021, at the Catch Restaurant in Soldotna. Pallbearers will include Robert White, Mike Cook, Mike Chenault, Louie Davis, Tony Kaser, and Mike Peek.
She was born May 3, 1968, in Lewiston, Idaho. She graduated from Kenai Central High School. She moved to Alaska in 1973, living in Kenai. She worked for the Chamber of Commerce for 30 years. She loved playing bingo, playing cards, and watching hockey.
The family wrote, ""Rebecca was like a mother to her niece Jennifer and best fill in grandma for Jennifer's 6 kids, she loved them will all her heart. She loved to play cards. She will be greatly missed at our family card games. My two kids Wayne and Christy were the luckiest kids to have her as an aunt. I will miss you sis, Love you your big sister Nan.""
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Norma White, siblings, Lonnie White, Tracy White, and Nephew Wayne Weaver.
She is survived by her husband, Tommy Hanson of Soldotna; daughter, Kayla Hanson of Soldotna; sister, Nan (Alan) Weaver of Nikiski; brother, Robert White of Nikiski; niece, Jenn (Adam) Lawson of Fairbanks and Christy Weaver of Nikiski and nephew, Andrew White of Colorado.
