Cyril Frick

1938 - 2025

Cyril "Cy" Frick passed away peacefully at home on October 3rd, surrounded by the family he loved. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ella; his son Craig; and his daughter Sonja. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Douglas, who is dearly missed.

Cy lived a life defined by purpose, curiosity, and rugged individualism. Born to Douglas "Bud" and Dora Frick, he moved to Sequim in 1947 and quickly embraced the outdoors-fishing, hunting, and even piloting an airplane as a teenager. He often said the Peninsula was a sportsman's paradise and the perfect place to raise a family. He graduated from Sequim High in 1957 and earned a doctorate in pharmacy from South Dakota State University in 1961, where he lettered in football and played center for the SDSU Jackrabbits.

Cy and Ella returned to Sequim in 1964 to raise their family, operate Frick Drug, which they owned for decades until their retirement in 2012, and established Mallard Brook Farm on Brown Rd. in 1971. A devoted outdoorsman, he continued to fly, hunt, hike, and create art throughout his life. Cy spent more than 50 years with the Boy Scouts, led 50-mile treks through the Olympics, served as Sequim Rotary club president and District 5020 Governor, hosted 17 Rotary exchange students, and was a founding member of the Boys & Girls Club of the Olympic Peninsula.
