John "Jack" Andis
August 20, 1941 - October 4, 2025
John "Jack" Andis, a longtime resident of Port Angeles, passed away on October 4, 2025, at the age of 84, following complications from a fall and subsequent pneumonia.
Jack was born on August 20, 1941, in Port Angeles, to Abraham and Rosa Andis. After graduating from high school, he married the love of his life, Mary Cecilia "Cec" Garies, on December 3, 1960. Together, they had four children: Rita, John, Jennifer, and Tammi who passed away shortly after birth.
He began his career at Hiller Helicopter and later worked for Boeing in Lynnwood, WA. However, his love for the outdoors and his hometown brought him back to Port Angeles in 1969. Here, he pursued his passion for forestry, earning both a degree in Forestry and an AA degree. Jack went on to work as a Forester for Merrill and Ring for 30 years, finding great joy and fulfillment in the woods he so loved.
In 2003, after 43 years of marriage, Jack lost his beloved wife, Cecelia, to cancer. He retired shortly after and dedicated his time to his passions for classic cars and music. On August 30, 2014, he found love again when he married Kimberly "Kimmie" Carmichael. The two shared a love for music and regularly attended the Open Mic at the Fairmount Restaurant. Jack was also a long-time member of The Peninsula Dream Machines, where he enjoyed restoring classic cars.
Jack will be deeply missed by his wife, Kimmi; his daughters, Rita and Jennifer; his son, John; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abe and Rosa; his first wife, Cecilia; his daughter, Tammi; his four half-brothers, Ed, Ellis, Rex, and Roy; and his niece, Rosa.
Jack was laid to rest at Mount Angeles Memorial Park. A memorial gathering for all friends and family to share stories and remember Jack will be held in June 2026.
