L.E. Withers Obituary

Rick Withers went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 6, 2014, after struggling with a prolonged illness.

He was born on February 21, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan.

Rick served his country with distinction in the National Guard, Air Force and Navy.

He met and married the love of his life, Barbara Frantz, while stationed in Omaha, Nebraska.

He had a career that spanned over 30 years as a "telephone man" with Bell Telephone Company, retiring from the company in 1983.

Together, he and Barbara raised five children, Cheryl Ronish, David Withers, Becky Pomaville, Melissa Merideth and Ruth Raemer.

He is survived by his wife; five children, 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, many of whom thought of him as their second father.

He will be greatly missed for his strength, wisdom, faithfulness, leadership, devotion and love.

Everyone is welcome to join the family in a memorial service to honor his life and legacy at the Lighthouse Church, 7808 Northeast 94th Avenue, Vancouver, Washington, on Saturday, September 13, at 2 p.m.

Interment at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon, will follow at a date yet to be determined.
