Michael Mernin Obituary
A Memorial Mass will take place Friday, June 14, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Sequim. A reception will immediately follow.
Michael was born November 23, 1934, in Butte, Montana, to Michael and Zetta (Sennett) Mernin. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Barbara Eck.
Michael worked as an engineer for Boeing for more than 35 years. During his career, he worked on many different projects that included Bomarc, The Peacekeeper, B-52, The Minuteman, among others, all the while making lifetime friends.
Michael's strong faith in the catholic church began early as a child. Throughout the years, he remained active and attended Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Burien, WA; Saint Philomena Catholic Church in Des Moines, WA and then eventually St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Sequim.
Mike was also involved in the Elks club and supported their many charities. He also enjoyed skiing, playing golf and fly fishing.
Mike was a wonderful and devoted husband and father. He always taught his children to stand tall, be proud and know themselves in all situations all the while supporting them throughout the many accomplishments and difficulties in their lives.
Michael's legacy lives on through his loving wife, Barbara Jayne Mernin; daughters Kelley Marie Oberschmid and Leslie Jo Wood; grandchildren Myles Wood, Lauren Wood, Pieter Michael VanHattem, Kristie (Leatham) Johnson, Michael Leatham and great grandchildren Kian Wood and Sabrina (Leatham) Johnson.
He was preceded in death by both parents; daughters Michele Leatham and Debra VanHattem.
The family kindly requests that memorial contributions in Michael's name be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
