Myron James Wallner

1935 - 2022

Myron (Mike) Wallner was born in Parkers Prairie, MN on December 11, 1935 to Otto and Laurena (Boeder) Wallner. He grew up and attended school in Parkers Prairie, MN and Enderlin, ND.


He left school early and went to work for a MT State-owned experimental produce farm in the summer and a sugar beet mill in the winter. With contacts made through the farm, he then joined Sun Oil Company as a 'doodlebugger' drilling for oil sites all over the southern United States.


He later returned to ND, where he met and married Joyce Stevens in October 1963. With this union, he inherited four little children, whom he lovingly cared for and called his own.


Shortly after, he and his new family moved to Lead, SD, where he worked in the Homestake Gold Mine for two years. An opportunity arrived to move west and become a shareholder in the Peninsula Plywood Mill (Pen Ply) in Port Angeles, WA. It was here that he welcomed his fifth child, Donald. He worked at the mill for 25 years before retiring due to health issues.


His main hobbies were fishing, hunting, training his many hunting dogs, and watching professional sports on TV (go Vikings!). He loved catching Walleye each summer at his cabin outside Pelican Rapids, MN, and then pheasant/duck hunting in the fall. He and Joyce spent many happy months there each year.


He is survived by son, David (Lisa) Wallner of Chewelah, WA; daughter, Vonda (Charles) Hartman; daughter, Vicky (Scott) Alward; son, Steven (Vicki) Wallner; son, Donald (Erin) Wallner, all of Port Angeles, WA; brother Roger (Eloise) Wallner, of Parkers Prairie, MN; sister, Carolyn (Kenneth) Babcock, of Fairview, MT; brother Dennis (Vickie) Wallner, of Lisbon, ND; sister-in-law, Lorene Wallner, of Enderlin, ND; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.



He was preceded in death by Joyce, his loving wife of 33 years; his parents, Otto and Laurena Wallner; and his brother, Howard Wallner.

He will be interred at Pontiac Lutheran Trinity Cemetery, Enderlin, ND.
