E. Madeline Knupp

Madeline M. Knupp passed away peacefully on Sunday, February, 8, 2026 at her home in Camp Hill, PA.
Born on October 5, 1921 in Lewistown, PA, Madeline was the daughter of the late Parks Murtiff, Jr. and Amy (Fultz) Murtiff, and the widow of the late Melvin L. Knupp, M.D.
Madeline graduated from Lewistown High School, where she participated in sports, was featured in dancing and singing roles in school plays and was the basketball queen of Lewistown High School in 1937. Thereafter, she graduated from The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and earned a professional nursing degree, RN.
Madeline, while a nursing student, met Melvin Knupp, a medical student at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1942. They were married on December 28, 1943. Mel then served in the Navy as a medic in the Philippines during WWII. Upon Mel's return, they moved to Camp Hill, PA where he specialized in thoracic surgery and maintained the surgical practice of Knupp, Savory and Wolfe for many years. They remained lifelong residents in Camp Hill for 60 years.
Madeline touched the lives of many who were fortunate to know her. She was fun loving and always shared a warm smile and heartfelt conversation. She was a member of the Camp Hill Bridge Club, served as President of the Dauphin County Medical Society Alliance and a long time member of The West Shore Country Club.
Madeline adored traveling, playing golf, card games, especially bridge and poker, and socializing with her good friends, especially at Happy Hour... She always celebrated the day with a glass of champagne, chilled white wine or a scotch and soda with snacks.
She is survived by her three children: Nancy K Grandon and husband, Raymond Grandon, Jr., of Lemoyne, PA; Melinda Knupp Walker of Camp Hill, PA; and Roger T. Knupp and his wife Kim, of Anaheim, CA. She has four grandsons and one great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Melvin Knupp, on April 12, 1995.
A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026. Musselman Funeral Home, 324 Hummel Ave, Lemoyne, PA is entrusted with funeral arrangements. Interment will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Township, Camp Hill, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP Foundation), or to a charity of one's choice.
