Rodman J. Krape, 72, of Sunset Beach, NC and formerly of Harrisburg and Dauphin, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday November 21, 2021 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. Born July 20, 1948, in Altoona, PA, Rod was a son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (McKiernan) Krape. On June 7, 1969, he was united in marriage with Sheila E. (Fahey) Krape with whom he shared a loving and devoted union of nearly 52 years prior to her passing on May 6, 2021. Rod had worked in the Insurance industry, initially with Washington National Insurance Co. and later Aegis Security Insurance Co., for 41 years, before retiring in 2010. He had attended St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church in Harrisburg and previously was a member of St. Matthew the Apostle and Evangelist Catholic Church in Dauphin. Rod had been a Board member of the Dauphin Athletic Association where he also coached Football, Softball and Baseball. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, bowling and going to the beach. A huge supporter of Penn State football and a season ticket holder for many years, he was also an avid Eagles and Steelers fan. While Rod appreciated the many blessings he had in his life, he was most thankful for his family – particularly his children and grandchildren, all of whom he loved more than life itself. Rod is survived by his son, Brian (Stephanie) Krape of Knoxville, TN; daughters, Allyson (Jonathan) Short, of Stewartstown and Kristina (John) Penrod, of Wilmington, DE and nine grandchildren, Emma, Cora, Annie, Casey, Tommy, Sidney, Benjamin, Clare and Sam.
