Donovan Elting Obituary
"IRON HEAD"
1939-2009Donovan Duane Elting, son of Donovan Duane, Sr. and Donna Belle Elting of Macomb, Illinois, passed away on the evening of April 25, 2009 after suffering a heart attack. A retired veteran of the United States Navy, Iron Head moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1976.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Clara Maxine Bibee Elting, four sons; David and Stephen Elting, Craig and Gary Allen, five daughters; Yvonne Elting, Deborah Elting Schott, Beverly Holbert, Patricia Page and Carla Givens and his sister; Tillie Fischer of Aurora, Illinois. He has been blessed with 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Donovan never met a stranger and will be remembered for his ability to make everyone feel at ease and bring a smile to their faces. Although his leaving causes us pain and grief, the love that he gave will be carried in our hearts forever.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment with Pastor Ray Williamson officiating.
Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to The American Heart Association.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the ICU doctors, nurses and staff at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama for all their compassionate care.
Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 Highway 29 South, Cantonment is in charge of arrangements.

He was the best of the best. I am so proud of him; he was a dad that showed us all how to live.
When I hurried down the path to trouble, he change my direction before I understood where I was going. He saved my life before it was to late. God take care of my dad. He taught respect, living, responsibility,and fun. It will be so hard with out him to guide us.

My thoughts and prayers goes out to the family of Ironhead. I worked with him at the Auto Auction and he always spoke and asked how you were doing. He will be greatly missed by everyone at the auction. May the Lord give each and everyone of you the strenght to get thru this time of sorrow.
