Irene Parker Obituary

Irene Edgecumbe Parker

1945 - 2014

Irene Edgecumbe Parker, 69, died peacefully on September 29, 2014, surrounded by family and friends. Irene was born on March 12, 1945- a Pensacola native and graduate of Tech High School. She lived in the area for her entire life and was a member of Point Baptist Church. She and her husband, Gene, married in 1988 and enjoyed twenty-six years of marriage.

Irene's love of social gatherings and her enthusiasm for seasonal decorating made her home the site of many memorable occasions. Irene's generous spirit compelled her to invite friends and family to share in all major holidays. Her love of games is legendary and she was always ready to play a round of dominoes or cards. When she wasn't hosting an event at her home, Irene could often be found playing games with friends on weekend camping trips. Her love of cruises and road trips leaves her husband, Gene, with many happy memories of their adventures together.

Irene's family and friends will forever remember her kindness and generosity.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Parker, and four children: Tommy Hinote and Kim Weaver of Pensacola; Adam Parker, of West Palm Beach, Florida; and Lori Harris, of Palmer, Alaska. Irene is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who will cherish their memories of Nana.

A visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Point Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at noon and celebration of life after the service.

Trahan Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gene, I was so sorry to hear about Irene. She was a very special lady. She loved her family and was kind to everyone.
She used to work with my daughter Wendy and I used to see her often. I have some very fun memories of us going to the casinos in Biloxi and having such a good time. May God bless you Gene and your family during this hard time. She will be waiting to reunite with her family in heaven. May you rest in peace Irene. No more pain and sorrow. You are in God's hands now.

Your passing breaks my heart like no other. You were a wonderful friend and coworker for so many years and you will be missed by so many. Heaven has gained a beautiful soul with a heart of gold. I'm sorry that time got away from us and we didn't get to reconnect. Love and prayers to your family during this most difficult time.
