James Kaib Obituary

James Paul Kaib

1937 - 2013

James Paul Kaib, age 75, died on February 11, 2013 at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola, Fla. A lifetime sailor, he left Ohio to join the U.S. Navy in 1955 and served in posts across the country and around the globe for 22 years, including tours of duty in Spain, Morocco, Italy and Puerto Rico. Following his Naval career, he continued in Civil Service for 20 years at both Pensacola NAS and Eglin AFB. An avid bowler, he coached many youth leagues to countless tournament wins. Since 1998, he spent his retirement with friends on local golf courses and venturing on an annual mountain fishing trip.

While serving in Naples, Italy, he met and married Veneranda Leone, his wife of 49 years. He had two sons, James Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla. and Paul Kaib of Atlanta, Ga.; one grandson Michael Kaib of Jacksonville, Fla. and one hole-in-one. He is survived by two brothers, Robert (Peggy) Kaib and Thomas (Gail) Kaib, of Phoenix, Ariz. He was predeceased by his parents Paul and Grace Kaib and a brother, William Kaib of Cleveland, Ohio.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Barrancas National Cemetery, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Covenant Hospice. Arrangements by Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

Nucca, I was saddened to get a phone call from Bill Dix telling us that Jim had died. I've not had a chance to meet you but want to extend to you our deepest sympathies. Jim and Bill were our guests of our each year when they came to our fishing resort here in the Arkansas Ozarks. We will miss Jim and his smile.

03/5/13 Dearest Nuccia, Until now, I did not know that Jim had gone home to our Lord. I was missing getting his emails and did a search, and discovered his obituary. My sincere sympathy to you, Bob & Tom. I will truly miss his emails. God's blessings to all of you. Rest in peace Jim, say "hello" to Bill from me and get another "hole in one" on those pearly links!

My deepest condolences to Nuccia. Jim was the person who taught me a great deal about bowling. He gave me the skills to be a better bowler but also taught me to love the sport. I owe him a lot. He is in my prayers. Ray Judd

Always there and ready to help and share with his associates from the VQ community. Will miss his face and great conversations if not so much golf :-)during the annual reunions.
