John Stroker Obituary

John F. Stroker

1952 - 2017

John F. Stroker, 64, of Pensacola, FL passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, August 19, 2017.

John was born to his parents, William and Marie Stroker, in New Canaan, Connecticut. He was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School in New Canaan, Class of 1970. He then received an Associate's degree in Business Administration from New England Aeronautical Institute at Daniel Webster College in Nashua, New Hampshire, Class of 1972.

He went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Marine Corps as a captain and pilot for six years. After being stationed all over the world including Okinawa, Japan and the former Tustin Marine Corps Station in California, John was honorably discharged from the USMC in 1978 and followed his true calling in aviation by pursuing his life long career and passion as a commercial helicopter pilot. After a 37-year tenure John retired from Petroleum Helicopters, Inc.

When John was not flying, he enjoyed relaxing and people-watching at the beach, which is what attracted him to leaving Louisiana and establishing his homestead in Pensacola 38 years ago. He was an avid fan of the Blue Angels, attending hockey games, grilling, and listening to music.

John is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 21 years, Denise Stroker of Pensacola, FL; son, Sean (Jaclyn) Garic BRPD, and their son Tristan of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Kristin (Timoleon) Panagopoulos, of Boston, MA; and daughter, Lindsey Stroker of New York, NY. He is also, survived by two sisters, Anne (Pat) Seile and family from Bend, OR; and Mary Ellen (John "Jack") Steele; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

John is preceded in death by two siblings, his parents, and two nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery on October 27, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.

Trahan Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

We pray John finds eternal peace and rest. He will forever be loved and missed.
