Maria Gutierrez Obituary

Maria Gutierrez, "La Viejita", as she was known, was born in Mexico on June 15, 1941. She was the daughter of Aureliano Diaz and Maria G. Perez. She married her husband, Jose Gutierrez on March 19, 1959. She died on May 29, 2011 in Pensacola, Florida peacefully surrounded by her husband, family and friends. She passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital where her son, Dr. Miguel Gutierrez-Diaz (Dr. G.) works.
Maria gave birth to ten children. She was a very loving, dedicated and wonderful mother. She was the mother of Rosalba, Sylvia, Miguel, Victor, Angelica, Alma Delia, Rigoberto, Mario, Juan and Britzeida. She had 25 grandchildren and her oldest granddaughter is expecting her first great-grandchild. She was loved by everyone who knew her in her native Guanajuato, Mexico.
Survivors include her husband, Jose Gutierrez; her children and spouses, Rosalba and Jose Luis Ruiz; Sylvia and Refugio Rangel; Miguel and Eddy Dania Gutierrez-Diaz; Victor and Alejandra Gutierrez; Angelica and Ismael Rojas; Alma and Vicente Alvarez; Rigoberto and Alma Gutierrez; Mario and Yaneth Gutierrez; Juan Luis and Guadalupe Gutierrez; and Britzeida Gutierrez.
Funeral services will take place in Santa Maria, California.
A memorial mass will take place at 11:00 a.m., June 11, 2011 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Pensacola, FL.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses from Sacred Heart Hospital that helped to take care of our "La Viejita". She loved Dr. Bill Goldsmith; nurses, Judy, Marcy, Lori, Nick and Michelle.
