Patricia Williams-Cobb Obituary

Patricia Ann

Williams-Cobb

1952-2016

Patricia Ann Williams-Cobb was born in Stockton, California on February 29, 1952 to Ellis Vyvyan and Betty Jean Perry Williams. She was reared in Pleasant Grove Community, near DeFuniak Springs, Florida and was graduated from Walton High School. Pat continued her education at Florida State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and The University of Southern Mississippi which conferred upon her the degree of Master of Science. She enjoyed her forty plus year career as a Registered Nurse, most of which was spent in management as Directors of Nursing with three of the four major health providers in Pensacola. Pat retired after many years in a State management position as Community Health Nursing Supervisor for Healthy Start and Epidemiology and, more recently, as Senior Community Health Nurse for School Health.

Pat did not confine her medical works to Pensacola. She made Medical Mission Trips where she had the opportunity to do two things precious to her: Share the Story of Jesus and His Plan of Salvation, and also use her medical and management talents to serve. From rustic tropical islands to advanced Japan, she went with her story of Christ and her ability to heal and share management techniques. She endured unpleasant conditions and ate unpleasant "delicacies" as she spread the Word. She grew up steeped in the teachings of Christ and they were important to her, not only to share but in her daily life.

Pat also knew how to have great fun: Pat was an avid Florida State Fan...if there was a game…she was watching, cheering, pulling, chanting, and celebrating a win or lamenting a loss. To know Pat was to know she loved Florida State! GO NOLES! She enjoyed playing basketball as a youth, tennis as a younger adult, snow skiing, and walking. Pat's other love was cooking, an art at which she truly excelled. Her food was always beautifully served and scrumptious. No small quantities either…Pat prepared for an army!

Family and friends meant more to Pat than any of the Earthly things mentioned above. Her love for her family was absolute. In addition, when you were Pat's friend, she loved you and your family as if it were hers, fiercely!

Pat would determine a need and be there to help in any way necessary. In medical situations, she often had the solution in process before most had knowledge of the actual need. She was organized, thoughtful, polite, determined to help solve issues, resourceful, generous, unassuming and loving. A simple "Thank you" was all she ever expected, no limelight, no reward, and no praise. Were there more Pats in this world it would be a much more beautiful place.

Pat left us to be with Jesus early on the morning of March, 26th. She was home, in her bed, calm and peaceful. She was with us one moment and then, in an instant, Pat left our world and met Jesus and the throngs of loved ones waiting to greet her as she entered Heaven including her parents, Ellis and Betty Jean Williams; Brother, Tod Stacey Williams; Brother-in-law, Brett Stephen Cobb; and her beloved English Cocker Spaniel, Creola.

She is survived by her Husband, D. Brandon Cobb of Pensacola; Sister, Vivian Louise Williams Powell (Keenan); Brother, Ellis Scott Williams (Linda); Brother, William Clifford Williams (Dawn); and Brother, James Russell Williams all of DeFuniak Springs; Mother-in-law, Jean Cobb Askew; Aunt, Ida Vashti Lamb; Uncle, William Russell Perry, junior of Turlock, California, Uncle Lamar Benjamin Cobb, senior (Jean) of Pensacola; Uncle Donald Scott Perry (Ginny) of Lodi, California; Aunt, Loraine Williams, Niceville; Uncle, James Brandon Ward II (Gloria) of Marietta, Georgia; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nephews, a great-niece; and her precious Morkie, Deacon.

Family and Friends will gather beginning this Tuesday evening with Visitation at the Pleitz Chapel, First Baptist Church of Pensacola. Family, please join us as early as five o'clock in the afternoon. The Reverend Doctor Jerry Passmore will be offering a prayer and a few casual thoughts about Pat at six o'clock. Friends please join us from six to eight o'clock.

Funeral Services will begin at ten o'clock in the morning this Wednesday, the thirtieth of March, in the Sanctuary at First Baptist Church of Pensacola. Pat's nephew, The Reverend Jacob Scott Williams, will be officiating assisted by The Reverend Doctor William Roston Lankford.

Graveside Service begins at one o'clock in the afternoon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in DeFuniak Springs, Florida with luncheon following provided by Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Thank you Jim Andrews; John Davy; Ed Grayson; Rick Hardcastle; Phil Johnson; Wilbert Knight; Noel Spurlock, DDS; and David Waters for escorting Pat to her final place of rest.

Gratitude is not enough for the kind care and love Pat received from Tarek Eldawy, MD; Linda; Pat; Jeanette; Allison; et al at Sacred Heart Cancer Center. You made an impossible situation pleasant. Thank you, dear ones.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the A. B. Cemetery Fund, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 5064 County Highway 1883, DeFuniak Springs, Florida, 32433 or The Music Ministry 20/20: Organ Repair, First Baptist Church, 500 North Palafox Street, Pensacola, Florida 32501.

I didn’t know Patricia personally but I do know Brandon. Because of who he is Brandon made it possible for Patricia to live while she still could and not die alone.

I grew up just " down the road " from Pat and her family and loved all of the Williams kids and they loved coming to our house to read comic books and play cards not allowed in their house. So sorry for the loss to Pat's family.

My sincere sympathy to the family in your loss. Pat was younger than me, but we went to Glendale Junior High School together. She was a very special person and the loss of her will be felt by many. She is with God now and is happy. Our loss is His gain. Rest in peace Pat.

I worked with Pat on and off for several years at the nearby Santa Rosa County health Department in the field of epidemiology before I retired. Her guidance and advice was always welcome, as well as her bright personality. My condolences to her family and friends.

My deepest sympathy to you Brandon and your entire family. Pat was a genuine person and always put others first. I know she is with Jesus now and most probably directing medical missions and working with all right now. She is watching out for you from above. Love you lots. Cheryl Marrs

I met Pat just once, quite a number of years ago, and I enjoyed her company very much! I know she will be missed by so many people, and my heartfelt condolences go to all of you.

Brandon, you eased her last months of life in so many ways and I know your devotion to Pat has always been unswerving and constant.

Love, Maggie and Larry Frank

Remembering lots of exuberant laughter on Friday mornings at the Coffee Cup with "the gang." That was many years back, but I can still hear the sounds, remember some of Pat's stories, and chuckle about Lois and Ruth feeding and bantering with all us rowdy rapscallions. That was 10 or 15 years ago when we were all in our 20's, right?

Pat and I (and our siblings) grew up together and attended Glendale School until I moved away in the 7th grade. While at Glendale School, we fiercely won the Championship Trophy in basketball. I have the picture of our team, which includes Pat, hanging on my wall in my office. Our paths crossed again in Pensacola while Pat was working in the nursing profession. Even as a child, Pat was kind and polite and a pleasure to be around. I remember her beautiful voice singing during programs at Glendale School. Heaven surely has gained a special soul. My thoughts and prayers are with Pat's family and loved ones.

She fought a good fight and did it her way. With her faith, a smile on her face and the help of others, she traveled to her reward with class. While we selfishly mourn our loss, we celebrate that she has no more pain and is with her Lord and love ones who went on before her. If earthly food was at the Heavenly Reunion, she served her famous salad that we all loved and will miss I am sure.

Sincere sympathy to Brandon and the Williams family. The last time I saw Pat she was taking her Mother to a doctor's appointment. As a matter of fact that's where I saw her most.. ..in the hospital from time to time when she brought her parents for care. She was a faithful daughter and family was very important to her.

It was a great pleasure to have spent time with Pat & Brandon recently in their home. Pat was still Pat with that twinkle in her eyes ! I am sure God has a twinkle in his eyes and heart now that she is at home with Him! Farewell my friend! You made a huge impact and will be sorely missed!
