Patsy Calhoun Mayo, 70, of Pace, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, August 18, 1:00 PM, at East Hill Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert J. Calhoun, Sr., and Evie Lee Calhoun, and her brother Robert Jack Calhoun, Jr. Patsy is survived by her husband, Eddie C. Mayo, Sr., daughters Patrice (Mike) McGhee and Jo Anne (Mike) Baerresen, son Chuck (Margaret) Mayo, brothers John (Linda) Calhoun and West (Amy) Calhoun, twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Patsy was a loving wife to her husband of 53 years. She was also a loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She was loved dearly by her large family and many friends. Patsy was a beautiful, smart, hard working, sophisticated woman who touched many lives. She was caring and helped people every opportunity she had.

Patsy served the students and parents of the Escambia County School District for 35 years as an educator. For most of those years, she was the administrator for the Hospital Homebound program. She loved her job and cherished every moment with her students and co-workers. Patsy worshipped the Lord and we know she is in his arms now. She will be remembered by many.

To my dear Patrice, Joann, Chuck and Uncle Eddie, my words can't express the hurt that I am feeling for you all. God knows your hearts. Please know that all of you and other family members are in my thoughts and prayers. Our families have shared some beautiful memories together over the years. Memories that will stay etched in our hearts forever. I thank God for that daily. I have often thought of each of you and wondered how you are doing. All grown up now with families of your own. We all have been blessed. This leads me to my dear Aunt Patsy. She had a special way of showing her love for others. Chuck and I spent allot of time together growing up. Aunt Patsy always could tell we were up to something. She would tell us that she has ESP. That would usually do it for us. She loved me just like I was her own son. A special love that only a mother could provide. My aunt was a remarkable woman. She was full of life and humor . Always had kind things to say. She will be truly missed. My hope is that in this time of sorrow, that Gods comfort will fill each of your hearts with the love and joy that she had for each of you. God Bless you all.
