Paul Pollitt Obituary

PAUL J. POLLITT
1928-2008

With family and loved ones gathered at his bedside, Paul J. Pollitt passed away on Friday night at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Florida, on May 2, 2008. He had suffered with several extended illnesses and health problems. Paul served four years in the Navy and received the Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals. He was a member of the USS Saipan Association. He retired from Gulf Power Company after 30 years service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Pensacola, Florida. Paul's hobbies included music, antique cars and Model A Club of Pensacola, His most recent project was restoring a 1934 Rolls Royce.
Paul was born in Bon Secour, Alabama, to Joseph Lee and Mabel Pollitt on September 4, 1928.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Ronnie & Kenneth Pollitt and his sister Peggy Harden.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Jean Elliott Pollitt of 59 years, his brother Otis Pollitt (wife Eleanore), children Peggy Diane Shepherd (husband David Shepherd) and Michael Pollitt (wife Lisa Pollitt), grandchildren Beth Shepherd, Luke Shepherd (wife Rose), Paul Ray Shepherd (wife Malinda) and Sarah Shepherd.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, May 5, 2008 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Rev. David H. Shepherd & Don McLaughlin officiating. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Model A Club of Pensacola, Florida.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service Monday.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund.
The family wishes to express gratitude to all our friends and family who have supported us through this hard time. They would also like to thank all the doctors and nurses who cared for Paul while he was at West Florida Hospital. May God bless you for all your thoughts and prayers. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

I am Larry, the son of Florence Blackburn (Pollitt). I filmed the Thanksgiving reunion in Alabama in 1984 when most of the relatives were still around. He will be missed.

My warmest regards to the Pollitt family. In the mid 50's I became friends with Ottis, Paul and Mrs Pollitt while dating Kenneth. There was much love in this family. May God give you all peace in your loss.
