Robert Powell Obituary

Bobby died at his home in Foley, AL on Monday, September 14, 2009. He was born in Pensacola, FL where he graduated from J.M. Tate High School. He was proud to have served two years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was employed for twenty-five years at Ingall's Shipbuilding Company in Pascagoula, MS where he was in Ship's Management. Bobby loved to fish and hunt and was considered a friend to many who knew him. He was dearly loved by his extended family.
Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of thirty years, Shirley Cowles Shelton; step-son, William (Bill) Shelton; his beloved parents, Monroe and Florine Powell; and his brother, Christopher Powell.
He is survived by his children, Shawn Powell and Tonya Powell Brown, both of Kentucky; his step-children, Mark (Bubba) Shelton, Kelli Ann Shelton; granddaughters, Brandi Mead, and Kandis Powell; grandson, Killian Shelton; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Sophia, and Blaine. He is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Crooke; brother-in-law, George Crooke; brothers, Michael (Anne) Powell and Charles (Karen) Powell; and sister-in-law, Sylvia (Robert) Hutchison.
A gathering of family and friends will be held to honor Bobby at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 Hwy 29 Cantonment.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.

Phyllis, I am so sorry to hear about your brother. I remember Bobby from many years ago at Tate High School. Again, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
