Ron...I sit here wth tears in my eyes and heart....I miiss you...I know you are near, watching over us all....Zach is trying to deal with the loss...I know that you are in heaven now and that the love and ache that we fell reaches you....You are so special...many mention your militay prowess....but I remember the tenderness that you displayed with a newborn when you carried him from the delivery room to show Zach off to family and friends...the times that you gave up your time to take the boys to play baseball and ride the go cart or 4 wheeler....You never gave up on your boys....always there....always giving the love and encouragement....You have made a difference in so many lives....Special just is not enough to describe you and the effect you have had on my life and the boys....and everyone you touched....We love you and miss you badly.....you will live on in our hearts and we will see you again....Thanks for all the good times and we got thru the not so good and were able to keep the family love we felt for each other and the boys....Thank God for that......Miss you....Love you....Always will....S

I flew with Ron on many missions while assigned to the 908th. I will always remember his smile and laughter. He talked about Zack all the time. I can not believe he is gone. I can only pray for his family and friends. Good bye my friend.

Ron was one of my instructors in 1993 at Brooks AFB, TX. For years he trained many of our flight nurses and AE medical technicians to do the job we are doing now all over the world in air evac. He then joined my squadron at the 908th AES at Maxwell AFB, AL in Montgomery. We flew, drank lots of coffee, ate bar-b-q with WAY to much hot sauce on it (I still have a small bottle he gave me that only needs literally one drop to set a single bowl of chili on fire) and hung out with out the usual group that shows early, stays late and of course complains about it and then does it all over again. When the Iraq war started in Mar 2003 I again saw Ron appear on the ramp of my KC-141 in Kuwait; we were about to load over 50 wounded from the MASF he was helping to run and he took the time to say hi, but I know he wanted to see who would be taking care of his wounded; he was in his element and the Air force was definitely getting it's money's worth. There are many of us that have these kind of memories of Ron. He was a good buddy, nurse and officer and volunteered to do many jobs most wouldn't or couldn't do. Ron wasn't perfect, but for his fellow airmen he lived "Service Before Self" and we know what he sacrificed for his country. Bless the family, friends and buddies he left behind.

I am in disbelief over Lt Col Barlow's passing. He was my supervisor at the 622 AES for awhile. He was a true Southern gentleman. My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.

Lt Col Barlow was a hard charger. Always at the forefront, always at the ready. he will be missed by his family, friends and the thousands of soldiers yet to be injured who will not have the benifit of his care.

Save a place for us sir. We'll be right there. AE leads the way!

To Fern and the entire Barlow Family,
I was stunned to hear of Ronald's passing. We at the 622 AES, MacDill AFB, remember Lt Col Barlow as a very devoted, attentive, confident, loyal, and easy going friend. I especially hold many fond memories from the various weekend drills and local exercises we attended together, here at MacDill Air Force Base. You and your family are in our prayers during this most difficult time for you are not alone with the emotions your family are experiencing. May your heart mend and your memories stay strong.
